The Twin Bridges Public Libraiy Board met Nov. 13 a t 7 p.m. in the library. Present were new member Carol Giem, Gerlean Whitney, Lenore Marshall, Debra Doerflin- ger, Librarian Sheila Giltrap and board chairman Alice Dale pnaid- ing. Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. The treasurer’s report was given. Bills were presented and initiated for payment 'Hie bids for the silent auction antique books were opened and the successful bidders will be notified. The meeting was adjourned. The 43rd annual Voice ofDemoc- ra^y Speech Contest was held a t the school Nov. 14 with eight students competing. Troy Ashcraft was the winner, Jennifer Schultz second and Louis Reynolds third. Other contestants included Cory Day, Connie Stark, Toiy Stephens, Shawn Kelly and Dell Humbert Hie students wrote on Why I Am Proud of America. Paula Gilman is . the speech teacher. Judges were Betty Sykes, Lenore Marshall and Joy Lott. Timekeeper was Tory Stephens and technical assistant was Maria Gilman. Gerlean Whit ney, president of the Chas. M. Riverside Wranglers Tlie second meeting of th e River side Wranglers 4-H club was called to order by President Keeley Konen Nov. 15. Roll call was 'name your favorite sport* Justin Myrhe led the Ameri can pledge and Leslie Cole led the 4- H pledge.TVeasurerMandyJohnson reported on the club’s balance. Oldbusiness included reports on horse judging by Kari Meine, Justin Myrhe and Randi W aylett Robert Blake reported on Achievement Day and Mel Cheney reported on the council meeting. The club sold 135 boxes of fruit. Randi Waylett, Alli son Warren, Kari Meine and Cath erine Cole won $5 for selling the most fruit in the club. Under new business the club is going to host Demonstration Day. They are going to buy flags for their meetings. Kevin Konen and Dorcey McCoy are on that committee. Cody Meine gave a demon stration on judging.' Bobbins and Bales > Hie Bobbins and Bales 4-H Club met Nov. 8. H iey discussed Achieve ment Day and voted in new mem bers, Mathieu and Anella Jo Perry. Before the meeting, the mem bers went to the Moving Image. They learned about the different kinds of exercise machines. They learned how they were made and what muscles they exercise. They also learned how important good health is. , The meeting was held a t Nancy Johnson’s house. Billy Kane read a paper about the Vietnam War. Mike Kane told about his Veterinary Science project. The club planned a skit' for Achievement Day with Carrie Sch indler reading her essay about \WhatMon tana Means’. Nolan Rice, Carrie Schindler, Michael Rogan, Mark Hagenbarth, Joe Schindler and Cindy Benson were assigned the job of handing out project awards. Krista Rhoads was assigned to sing \Montana* because she is song leader, and she played Jeannette Rankin. Mike Rice and Allyson Rogan played a pioneer couple. Casey Olson played a miner. Melrose Rainbows The Melrose Rainbows 4-H club held a meeting Nov. 14 with 11 memberspresentand Carla Andrus, club leader. Forscommunity project theclub cleaned along the railroad tracks Nov. 18. A dance will be held Dec. 8 to raise money for the Montana 4-H Foundation. Local 4-H clubs will be invited. Overall animal judging ribbons were handed out and a safety proj ect was discussed. The next meeting will be held a t 7 p.m., Dec. 12, a t Wade Barringers house. Lima Club Annual Dinner... LIMA - This was tlje 11th an nual Thanksgiving Dinner held a t the Lima Club, hosted by Howard and Barbara Young. A free dinner was offered to anyone who happened by. Hunters and travelers were told they were welcome to eat a t the Club on this day. This year, a man and his wife and three children had lost their money and found a dinner awaiting them a t the Club. The dinner included 50 pounds of turkey, ham, roast goose and all of the trimmings. The Youngs ofTer this free dinner every year to say thanks to the people who are their customers and friends. Clubs... OES Elva Boardman Chapter No. 26 held a regular meeting Tuesday, Nov. 21. Nettie Welborn, Worthy Matron, and Don Merrell, acting Worthy Patron, presided. Christmas gifts were brought for the guests a t the Masonic Home. Plans were made for the Christ mas party a t the next regularmeet- ing to be held Dec. 19. This will be a potluck dinner a t 6:30 pjn., with a gift exchange after the meeting. Ladies Auxiliary VFW Ladies Auxiliary to Erwin Paul Post VFW held their regular meet ing, Monday, Nov. 20. Coloring books, “Sweet Land o f- Liberty”, were given tf/the Lima School,kindergarten throughfburth grade. Donations were made to the VFW National Home, Veterans Hospital at Fort Harrison; and to the Ambu lance Fund through the Lima Fire Department. Raftle tickets were purchased to support the Cancer Aid and Research. Hie annua] Christmas party for Erwin Paul Post and Auxiliary members and spouses will be held Saturday, Dec. 8, a t 6:30 p.jn. a t the VFW Hall. Turkey will be furnished.
