Those striking gates marking the entrance to a home off of Highway 41 with the cut-out metal mountains and pine trees, were made by Petersen, as were' the metal moose silhouettes gracing the new exterior of the State Bank and Trust building. Petersen is opening a new business, Galloping Horse Interiors, in Dillon, at the former location of the Great Harvest Bakery Lab. The building at 25 S. Idaho, now owned by Bob and Cathy Hupp, will soon house several new ventures. She got her start in working with metal about seven years ago, when she started helping her grandfather, a lifelong welder, to do his work. At the time, she was teaching in Arizona and returning to Dillon in the summertime. After moving back to Dillon permanently, she decided to make metalwork her job, working at her shop at home. Now, with several years’ worth of experience under her belt, and with her metal pieces to be found in quite a number of homes and cabins around southwestern Montana, she’s focusing on her work. From cowboys and horses to wildlife and fishing, Petersen says she can make \just about anything anybody wants....Even pictures of themselves or family members.\ Petersen's shop will not only feature metal signwork, but copper tables, lamps, plant hangers, and such, sold under the name \T.P. Originals\. She can make anything from little hooks to deck railings, large signs to tables, chairs, and barstools. From hot racks for your kitchen to curtain rods and bathroom fixtures, including mirrors and shower door inserts. She even makes chandeliers, many decorated with bronc-riding cowboys and other western-style details. Rope might be called her trademark, and she prides herself in twisting her own metal ropework by hand, not using readymade. If you don't see what you're looking for, Petersen is happy take custom orders for just the right thing. Her tabletops range from handmade butcher block to handtooled leather, and she can even put your own brand on the leather. Galloping Horse Interiors will also house handmade and unique home interior and decor pieces that Petersen says she feels goes well with her own custom made work. The store will have rugs, pillows, gift items, and a handful of antique furniture pieces. Visitors to the shop will also see Jolene Mehri's \Cowgirl Bou tique”, offering jewelry and other items, many handmade. The boutique's inventory will include silver jewelry, purses and accesso ries, and western concho belts, which, Petersen notes, \the girls will love\. \They're very cool looking, very unique.\ The boutique will also offer \Cowgirl Cosmetics\ including lotions and such. Petersen decided the Dillon area needed a shop such as the one she's creating, when, perusing some catalogs featuring handmade western-style decorative items, she thought, \1 wish we could have that here.\ Galloping Horse Interiors will open Saturday, October 9 at 9:00 a.m. All are invited to attend a Grand Opening set for Monday, Octo ber 18, with refreshments to be served. The shop's regular hours will be Monday-Saturday, 10:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m., and Petersen will be open additional hours, including Sundays, during the holidays and other peak times. Visit the shop at 25 S. Idaho, or call Galloping Horse Interiors at 683-9752. Galloping Horse Interiors Tara Petersen's Galloping Horse Interiors opens this week, with Saturday, October 9, at 9:00 a.m. the official opening of the shop, which can be found at 25 S. Idaho, in the former Great Harvest Bakery Lab. Petersen will offer her custom made metal western, wildlife and fishing home decoration items, along with silver jewelry, rugs, pillows, and more. Stop by and see what the newest shop in Dillon has to offer. See more at her new shop, Gal loping Horse Interiors, located at 25 S. Idaho, in the former location of the Great Harvest Bakery Lab. The shop houses unique home interior items. Galloping Horse Interiors is also the home of the \Cowgirl Boutique\ which features jew elry and cosmetics. Y o u h a v e a l o t o f g o o d r e a s o n s . . .
