Educational Foundation dinner, auction this Thursday evening The Elementary Educational Foundation ha.- organized a unique fundraiser for Thursday. February 17 at 5:30 p.m.. with an auction slated for 0 30 pm. The event will he held at the Parkview Elementary l.unchroom. Cost is $5 per person and $15 per family. Workshop set on Pioneering Discoveries curriculum A workshop designed for teachers and would be teachers is planned soon at the University of Montana Western \Pioneering Discoveries\ is a site specific, experiential, ecosystem-hased workshop offered by the University of Montana-Western School of Outreach Friday, April 15 through Sunday, April 17. Course work includes lectures and interactive participation. Course ■¡objectives include understanding the historical foundation and issues 'of teaching environmental education in the field, becoming familiar 'with the field study site, demonstrating and participating in each \lesson in the Pioneering Discoveries curriculum and knowing basic ^ecological concepts. The workshop features four discovery sessions ^Researching Riparian Areas. Discovering Ponds. D illon F iddle C ontest Sunday, February 20 UM-Western Beier Auditorium Final Round at 7 pm With performances by the Dillon Junior Fiddlers, the Peewee Fiddle Champion, our distinguished Judges, the top five Fiddlers in each division, and Harmony and Novelty acts. Tickets are $5 in advance for adults ($8 at the door), S3 for children 6 to 12 (available at the door), and children 5 and under free. Don’t miss the best entertainment value in town! The fundraising dinner, a po tato and fixings feed, will include an auction of handmade, one of a kind wood items. The auction items have been built bv local woodworkers and decorated by students in the elementary dis trict. Each class decorated its own woodcraft project. Funds raised will go to the Parkview and Dillon Middle school art departments. The 12 items to be auctioned are: • A planter decorated by pre school students with the help of Yasmine Acosta Myers, made by John Warren • A table decorated by pre- school students with the help of Yasmine Acosta Myers, made by John Warren • Two rocking chairs deco rated by the Mary Innes kinder garten classes, built by Mel Rice • A toybox decorated by the first graders, created by Jim and Peg Corr • Two picnic tables, with one decorated by the second graders and the other by the third grad ers, built hv Joe Barnhart • A bench decorated by the fourth graders, created by Dave Cypher • A Bench seat with storage, decorated by the fifth graders, built by Kerry Clark • A wooden box with mosaic design, decorated by the sixth grade class, built by several do nors • An outdoor planter decorated by the seventh graders with stamped wood, created by Ed Jones • An indoor planter with mo saic design decorated by eighth grade students, made hy several donors Montanans for 4-H Perrie Crampton, Sarah Smith and Elizabeth Smith recently took part in a four-day event in Helena, including greeting and sealing over 200 legislators and guests at the Legislative Breakfast put on by Montanans for 4-H. The Beaverhead County 4-H members also worked to draft, debate and act on legislative bills, modeling a legislative body at work. Each delegate was assigned a political party to caucus, elect leadership, and luiikl a parly plat form Committees were appointed and hills were debated in com mittee and passed out of commit tee before they appeared on lie floor of the mock legislative ses sum Sarah was the minority party whip, Perrie the majority party secretary, and Elizabeth the EWP committee co chair Elizabeth's 1 31 died in committee.
