What is this?
Optical character recognition (OCR) is an automated process that converts a digital image containing numbers and letters into computer-readable numbers and letters. The search engine used on this web site searches OCR-generated text for the word or phrase you are looking for. Please note that OCR is not 100 percent accurate. If the original image is blurry, has extraneous marks, or contains ornate font styles or very small text, the OCR process will produce nonsense characters, extraneous spaces, and other errors, such as those you may see on this page. In addition, the OCR process cannot interpret images and may ignore them or render them as strings of nonsense characters. Despite these drawbacks, OCR remains a powerful tool for making newspaper pages accessible by searching.
Page 8 Dittos I RIM '44 - Wednesday July 30 2014 Cubs fall short at tourney Dillon Cubs American Le- gion baseball came a long way this season, but fell just 90 feet short of their goal to return to the state tournament. The Cubs lost, 5-4, on Sat- urday to the Belgrade Bandits for their second setback in last week's double -elimination American Legion Class A South- ern District tournament in Three Forks. Dillon got a runner to third base in the ninth inning in that game, but couldn't get him home. The Cubs battered the Ban- dits, 22-11, two days earlier in the tournament, with eight of the Cubs' starting nine scoring multiple runs in the game. That blowout victory came after Dillon gained a tense, extra inning win over the Butte Miners in their tourney opener the previous day. Dillon came out on the wrong end of an 11-1 blowout against Demo Derby Continued from page 7 As it turned out, the respond- ers took care and time to handle the situation, even thought is was a precautionary measure and the driver himself said he was fine before leaving the arena. Singleton said the driver was Andy \The Mouth\ Rimer, the son of multi -time Dillon Demo champion Kevin 'flamer. Andy was participating in just his second year of derby action, and Kevin kept his hand in the game with a second place finish in the Herbie Derby. Kevin had to be consoled during the initial stages of the response. \They don't water the tracks anymore,\ said Singleton of the many wicked strikes during the derby. \A little bit of water would slow this way down. This thing is moving so fast.\ According to Siaperas, the track was watered down, but the extreme heat dried the track out very fast, leaving a harder than hoped for surface on which the drivers took advantage to fly around at speeds faster than usual. \It is impressive to see the big hits, but driver safety is our no. 1 goal,\ said Siaperas. \The arena was a little fast because it dried out fast due to the heat.\ Surprisingly, the top two fin- ishers in the main event emerged from the consolation heat. After the two heat races advance three cars, any cars that can still run goes in the consolation heat, with the top three, with an extra run of smashing in the books, advanc- ing to the main event. 2014 Dillon Jaycee Demolition Derby Total purse - $6500 Main Event - I.
