Page Four EASTERN MONTANA COLLEGE OF EDUCATION June 3, 1949 MARIE HEIKEN CHOSEN TO REPRESENT EASTERN Girl's State Selection Announced Marie Heiken will serve as Eastern's first representative to Girls' State, meeting on the Rocky Mountain campus June 17-24. Girls' State is the convocation of girls from all high schools of Montana. The girls are selected by the school administrators, students of the respective schools, and the American Legion Auxili- ary. Qualifications for this honor are scholarship, leadership and character. Miss Heiken's duties will in- clude guidance in national, state and local government in addition to supervisory activities in the convocation. Activities for the Girls' State include many social activities cli- maxed by typical state and local elections to choose officials. Miss Heiken will receive her Bachelor of Science in Education in August. Her first position will be teach first grade in Glasgow come September. Loads of luck.
