Night of January 16 Opens Final Performances Tonight, Saturday ► The play is still the same, only the location has been changed, Professor W. H. Sturdy, Eastern's drama coach, announced today, as he and members of the cast of \Night of January 16\ ironed out wrinkles for tonight's and Saturday's productions. The highly successful courtroom drama will unfold in the Multi-Pur- pose room of the Education build- ing. The play's sets were too large for the Science Aud. Debators Win Awards Taps 10 Eastern Undergraduates At Boulder Festival Nine students were tapped for Kap- pa Phi Kappa, a national education honorary for men, Tuesday, Nov. 18, at 8 p. m. at Eastern Montana Col- lege of Education, Dr. T. E. Moriarty, dean of Education, revealed today. National secretary Frank Peake, na- tional councilor C. C. Moore and H. L. Steele, president of Eastern, were present at this first initiation cere- mony. Dr. C. Hale is the faculty spon- sor. New inductees were Ray Mace, Miles City; Gary Freebury, Laurel; John Gregory, Lodge Grass; Eugene Hauck, Hardin; James Poor, David Williams, Milton Butler, Ronald Stoltenberg and Baird Langworth, all of Billings. Kappa Phi Kappa is a male organ- ization for undergraduates in educa- tion. Its purposes are to encourage young men of sound moral character and recognized ability to the study of education problems and the ap- plication of education principles. Eastern Montana College recently qualified for a chapter of Kappa Phi Kappa and is one of the few insti- tutions in the Pacific Northwest with a chapter on its campus, Moriarty concluded. Initiation ceremonies were held in Room 104 of the Education building. The Eastern Montana College of Education debating team returned from their junket to the University of Colorado Invitational Forensic Festival at Boulder, Nov. 14-15, with one discussion award and high indi- vidual ratings, Richard Grover, di- rector of speech, revealed today. Verna Abbott, a Lewistown junior at Eastern, was awarded a certifi- cate for outstanding achievement in discussion. She was one of three out of a field of 30 contestants in this event to receive an award. Barbara Matelich, Anaconda, won a first place in narrative poetry reading and a (Continued page 3, column 1)
