THE BUZZER June 22 \ STUDENT UNTO''' . OPEN FOR SUITE= SESSION STUDENTS Monday s Juno 13, marked the official opening of the new student union builCing at Eastern Montana College of Education. Included in the building is the cafeteria and lounge, the bookstore, a game room and kitchenette, a publications office, and a bar- ber shop. The approximate cost is 0140,000. The students, not taxpayers, finance the building. In 1947, the student body of EMCOE voted to have a student union build- ing. Since then, 4 ? 50,000 has boon paid LIBRARIAN EXPLAINS STRUM SCHEDULE Eastern's library will be open for study and reference workm Saturday morn- ings and some evening; in addition to the daily schedule, according to Mrs. J. Cer- anton, summer session librarian, The schedule is as follows: 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday; 8:45 a.m. to 11:45 a.m., Saturday; and 7:00 p.m.0to 9:00 p.m., Monday, Tuesday : and Thursday. Ceranton also says that students do have \stack\ privileges. This means that they may go to shelves in the stack room if they wish, but all books must be checked at the desk as the student leaves the stacks. Students may check ou maga- zine at the desk. Reserve books may be taken out at three .block and kept until 9:15 the next morn- ing. Reserve books may be chocked out over the weekend. A reserve book may be used in the library for one hour, or long- er, if no ono else is waiting for it, RUYLE VICTIMIZED BY AP7ErDIX One of Easternis visiting faculty mem bers, Dr. Asa M. Ruyle, began an uncx- Tpectud rest on his arrival in Billings last woek. Dr. Ruylo suffered an attack of appen- dicitis and was admitted to St. Vincents Hospital at 2:15 a.m., Tuesday morning. The rest of the money will be paid by students andihrough rent- al fees paid by the cafeteria and the bookstore, or anyone else who uses the union. The bookstore is a separate enter- prize and is not part of the student unions, Schlaht Directs Student Union For the past five years the bookstore has been under the direction of Mr. R. Je Schlaht, who also acts as general manager for the summer session. Mrs. Edna Frost is fina I . : Jig her third year as bookstore manager, The bookstore is open continu- ously from 9:00 a.m., until 5:00 r,m. and is not closed during the noon hour. An- ticipated volume for the coming year is 00,000. 'Ars, Virginia Roik Manages Cafeteria The cafeteria,under the supervision of Mrs, Reik, is open from 8:00 a.m. until 4;00 p.m. Breakfast, lunch, and fountain service is available daily. Overlooking the campus is a spacious lounge which has a remote control sound system. Television, radios, and a phonograph will be installed in the future. Blond overstuffed furni- ture and wrought iron occasional chairs furnish the lounge. Summer session stu- dents of 1954 donated the baby grant piano, and the public address system within the building is a gift of the Associated Stu- dents of EMCOE, 1954-55. Seniors of 1955 donated ferns and shrubs in front of the building.
