And who doesn’t love a concert, of any kind?! Add a big group of friends into the mix and you have one great night ahead of you! Well that’s what’s happening on January 19, 2008! Brad Paisley is coming to town and Carroll’s providing students with discount tickets and a ride. Two years ago John Beltrone, a senior, went to Pat Harris, direc tor of student activities, and asked what could be done to get a group of students and Carroll together in order to attend a Brad Paisley concert in Missoula. The result? A bus packed full of excited Carroll students and a great night filled with great memories. This year, students have the op portunity to share that same good time, with the same country singer (but of course, great new songs), and more memories with the same great, and some new friends. Tickets will be $49.75, but if at least 150 people are interested in going, you will be able to get a ticket for only $40. There will be buses going to Missoula that night free of charge. Don’t wait, get your tickets now, and be ready for a great night! E-mail Patrick at phar- ris@carroll.edu to get on the list. S a i n t s W i n ! Opponents Fail to Defeat Our Team There’s excitement in the air around the Frontier Conference. Last week, our Saints defeated their opponents by a significant margin. The game itself left members of the crowd stunned to see the Saints play so well. “I vaguely recall seeing the Saints playing last week, but oh man, were they on fire,” said a local fan who attended the skirmish. “They were scoring points left and right, and each time the other team scored, they just moved on and answered back with another unit of scoring. It was a truly a sight to see, if I remember correctly.” Yes, team chemistry and a pow erful offensive attack provided the Saints with a victory. Weeks and weeks of practice have gotten them to this point in the season where they are comfortable with their style of play. In an interview with the coach, the coach said “I was really happy to see that our team out-performed the other team. Our strategy for success has always been a com bination of scoring points and not letting our opponents score as many as us. If we do that, then I don’t think there’s a team in the conference that can beat us. I’m not saying, however, that we’re undefeatable. Our next game against those other guys could either be a blowout, a close game, or somewhere in be tween.” As the Saints pre pare for their upcoming away game, they remain cautiously optimistic about their ability to pull off a victory. Says the Saints’ star defensive player, “I’m cautiously optimistic about our ability to pull off a victory, provided that we score more points than those other guys.” So, to all you fans attending the big game, remember that your cheers, jeers, and school spirit are what makes the Saints the Saints. Just remember: Win of lose, that’s all you can do, either win or lose, unless you tie. Satirical column BRIAN GEER Frida», December 7,2007 Volume 91, No 3
