Page 2 RAIDER REPORTER EDITO~IAL Lately there has been a good deal of talk concerning the issue of lowering the 11ontana • voting age to nine- teen. A bill to this effect passed the legislature, was signed by the governor, and has become a referendum is- sue. It seems incredible to the legislature, but now people to look closely at cerning it. me that this bill ever passed that it has, it is up to the the matter and take action con- 1 , lliat the legislators evidently fai. led to realize is that most nineteen-year-olds have not been on their own long enough to even understand the value of money, let alone kno.r enough to look into the future to see what affect legislation could have on our State and/or Nation. Only the rare exceptions are mature enough not to be taken in by the emotional appeal of politicians, and are capable of voting intelligently. Hopefully, the general public will be able to see this, and defeat the referendum when it is presented for a vote. SL!
