RAIDER REPORTER VOLUME XXXVII NO. 4 WINIFRED, MT 59489 'Twas The Night Before Christmas ..... . A Stan Leonard Rendition. -- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 'Twas the night before Christmas, when in parts of the house •••• , All the creatures were stirring, even the louse; The dirty socks were not hung, so the chimney was bare, In hopes that St. Nicholas would not show up here; The children were fighting on top of their beds, Then they started to cry when I smashed in their heads; And My Old Lady in her 'kerchief, and I in my cap, •Had just settled our brains for a long winter's nap; ~en out on the lawn there arose such a clatter, I fell out of the bed, and went to see what was the matter. Away to the window I crawled like a flash, I crawled into the shutters and threw up on the sash. The Night was dark, the Moon was red. And then, in a twinkling, they crashed on the roof The stumbling and cracking of each little hoof- As I drew in my head, and was turning around, Down the chimney St. Nicholas came with a sound. He had messed up his fur, from his head to his foot, And his clothes were all tarnished with ashes and soot; A bundle of toys he had flung on his back, And he looked like a smuggler just opening his pack. His eyes-they were crinkled! His pimples, were scary! His cheeks were like Moses', his nose was all hairy! His great big mouth, it looked like a cave, And the beard of his chin gave him the look of a grave; (Continued next page).
