' . . . . . . - -- ER/; /!IL - REPORTER ~OLUME XXXVII NO. 5 WINIFRED, MT 59489 Teachers Visit NewOrleans OEcar Cantu and Roxane Jacobson, vocational education teacher . s and presidents of their divisions recently returned from the 78th annual national convention of the American Vocational Association, in New Orleans, Louisi- ana. \Excellence In A New Age\ was this years convention theme. During the national convention they attended re- gional and division business meetings, sessions which provided dynamic speakers and workshops on Excellence In the Classroom and Excellence In Leadership. Teachers were encouraged to increase their involvement in communications - public relations, in teaching the basics, and in establishing partnerships with policy ma- kers,business and industry, and other educational organi- zations. While at the convention Roxane attended Home Economics sessions on: Future of FHA, Computers in Home Economics Education, Middle School Programs in Home Economics, Work and the Family and Positive Image Building and Positive thinking. While Mr. Cantu was at the AVA Convention in Louisiana, he participated in the NVATA division meetings. On Fri- day night, Donna and Oscar were treated to a dinner spon- sored by Elaneo Products company for being the state winner of the \Sound Off for Agriculture\ award. Mr. Can- tu stated, \Needless to say, I sound off a lot wherever I go with the concerns of agriculture. The Agriculture Education Division, which is the PHd Teacher Educator's organization, requested input concern- ing Ag. Ed. at the high school level.Mr . Cantu's division gave him the task of speaking on their behalf . Both Saturday's and Sunday's meetings were held to write and rewrite resolutions to make certain that the resolutio . ns would pass. Mr. Cantu controlled more votes than any other single person at the NVATA Convention. He said, \When I speak, people listen or get tired of listening.\ * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * JANUARY 3, 1985 Al I-District Band &Choir The All District Honor Band and Choir Day will be held on January 7,1985 · in Geraldine at the Geral- dine High School. Atten- ding from WHS for choir are: Anita Stulc, Mat Bolstad, Terri Hassler, Diane Wildung, and Trudy Brooks • Attending for band are: Kevin Econom, Mary Heller, Chrissy Leon- ard, Barb Walling, Tom Ph i lp, Susie Bolstad, and Scott Rogers. The kids will rehearse songs all day starting at 8:30 for the concert that night at 7:00 pm. The concert will be held in the Geraldine High School Gym. The choir will be singing Lamb of God, Pretty Saro, Two Macedonian Folk Songs, Over the Rainbow,Set Down Servant. The band will be performing Australian Up-Country Tune, Canto, Slavonic Folk Suite, and Brahms-Blessed Are They. Hope you can come and see them perform . Happy New Year H
