(Continued on Page 4, Col. 3) JUNIOR PROM MAY 26 Over 200 couples attended the junior prom at the Airdome on the night of May 26. The building has been recently opened for the sum- mer so that the floor was not worn to that point of smoothness neces- sary for a successful dance, but de- spite this handicap the future teach- ers swept on to a hilarious evening. At 10 o'clock \Micky\ McBride took the arm of \Sally\ Miller and led the entire attendance through the dainty steps of the grand march. After this the program started and everyone had the customary diffi- cult time finding his proper op- ponents at the proper time. The guest of honor of the evening was a stray cat, which took a favor- able inclination toward the Abbott family who entertained it royally throughout the evening. Pioneer Park Scene of Spring Festival MELTING POT IS THEME OF EVENT TOMORROW At 6 p. m. on Tuesday at Pioneer Park the sixth annual spring festi- val will be held. \The Melting Pot\ is the subject, and 214 stud- ents in the first year groups will impersonate the natives of 13 na- tions. On a central platform Uncle Sam, impersonated by Johanna Richter, and Miss Columbia, portrayed by Margaret Gustafson, will receive the various groups and witness their folk dances. As each national group finishes it will take its place back of the platform, all 13 groups forming a massed group with a huge American flag behind them. The grand finale will be a march in which all will take part. THE RIMROCK ECHO Eafiern Montana Normal School VOL. IV. BILLINGS, MONTANA, MONDAY, JUNE 5, 1933 NO. 8 THOMSON TO ADDRESS GRADS FRIDAY \Alice-Sit- By-The-Fire,\ Annual Spring Play, to be Presented Thursday MISS DEWEY DIRECTS BARRIE'S THREE-ACT DRAMA-10 IN CAST PLAY DEPICTS SOCIAL LIFE OF BRITAIN On Thursday night, June 8, at 8 o'clock in the Billings high school auditorium the curtains will swing aside for the presentation of the Normal School spring production, \Alice-Sit-By-The-Fire.\ James Bar- rie, the English playwright, has de- picted a comedy of the social life of his own country in this three act drama. The play is under the di- rection of Miss Martha Dewey. The Story From the far shores of India, Colonel Gray and his wife, Alice, returned to their home and children to whom they were strangers. The light-hearted Alice seemed strange to her children who expected, a more dignified mother. She found her family hostile to her, while the Colonel was accepted warmly. At the end of the first act Amy finds her mother allowing an old friend from India to kiss her. Sus- pecting an affair, Amy and her friend Ginevra plan to save her mother from breaking the Colonel's heart. The second act finds Amy in the chambers of the old Indian friend, Steven Rollo, who never had a love affair in his life. Serious compli- cations arise when Alice finds her daughter there and immediately be- lieves that Steve has seduced her. To make matters worse the Colonel learns of his daughter's presence in Rollo's apartment, and his rage is boundless. The last act sees the unraveling of the difficult situation into which Amy has thrust them all by her sacrificial intentions. The Cast The cast includes Genevieve Spur- gin as Alice, Horace McBride as Stephen Rollo, Martha Calvert as Amy, Dave Duncan as Colonel Gray, Marie Borberg as Ginevra, Frances Yerkes as Cosmo, Peggy Barringer as the nurse, Maybell Erickson as Richardson, Pauline Brain as the maid, and Virginia Conway as Molly, the baby. HA! HA! AND HA! It's the student's turn to laugh. All the burning of midnight kilo- watts is compensated for by the harried look on teachers' faces as they plow through term paper after term paper.
