More about this newspaper

Winifred High School has published a student newspaper at least back to 1937. While we don’t have every issue of every incarnation of the paper, included here are 284 issues from 7 titles (Raider Rave, Big Shot Bulletin, Tourney Tattler, The Pioneer, The Raider Reporter, Prairie Dog Chatter and The Winifred Times) dating from 1921-2011. The earlier papers, especially the Prairie Dog Chatter, have substantial community and alumni news. While the high school is responsible for publishing the school paper, they always make sure to cover the goings on at the grade school as well. There are often profiles of seniors and transfer students. In addition to sports, Future Farmers of America (FFA) activities were a major topic for decades, starting in 1963 when it was suggested as one of the things that should be added to the school’s offerings though a chapter wasn’t organized at Winifred until 1974.
