What is this?
Optical character recognition (OCR) is an automated process that converts a digital image containing numbers and letters into computer-readable numbers and letters. The search engine used on this web site searches OCR-generated text for the word or phrase you are looking for. Please note that OCR is not 100 percent accurate. If the original image is blurry, has extraneous marks, or contains ornate font styles or very small text, the OCR process will produce nonsense characters, extraneous spaces, and other errors, such as those you may see on this page. In addition, the OCR process cannot interpret images and may ignore them or render them as strings of nonsense characters. Despite these drawbacks, OCR remains a powerful tool for making newspaper pages accessible by searching.

Week of December 19-25, 2003 — BIG TIMBER (MT) PIONEER — Page 9 The theme of the 2003 special Christmas Greetings issue of the Big Timber Pioneer is “Christmas Through the Decades”. The stories on the following pages are reprinted from past issues of this newspaper, at least one from each decade. We’ve tried to present a sampling of the times from the myriad of articles to choose from. And, as the owners and staff members of this newspaper have done for the past 115 years, we wish you all a “MERRY CHRISTMAS”! Next Monday is Christmas day. It will not be the Christmas of olden times, money will not be as plentiful, the spirit of real cheerfulness and optimism may be curtailed, but two more pay days will place people of this community in far better shape physically, spiritually and financially than they were last year or the year before. It should also be borne in mind that this year we have a double Santa Claus - the mythical Santa Claus and the Roosevelt Santa Claus.
