Kelley, the well known , atuct- loneer from Hobson, passed through 'Moore on Monday evening enroute home from •Harlowton, where he crier a sale that day. Wan. Clark returned on Tuesday evening from Judith Gap, where he has been employed by Contractor Sharp on the new bank building. The structure is now practically com- pleted. • Harry Quackenbush left on Mon- day afterntoon for Helena/ after a baisinees visit here, to • spend the greater part of the winter at the home of Mrs. Quackenbugh's mother who is quite ill. Later on Mr. and Mrs. Quackenbush may take a trip Ito California. Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Detrick were Lewistown visitors yesterday. Mrs. Frank Jackson and children elated at Lewiatown yesterday. Mr. and Mrs. E. 0. Hedrick took a trip by .auto to Denton last Thurs- day. Mrs. C. C. Jeffries of Lewistown was a guest at the Wm. J. Abel home yesterday. The Ladies' Aid of the Methodist church met with Mrs. H. E. Strang 'yesterday afternoon. • Miss Margaret Clark came down ifrom Lewistown yesterday for a vis- it with her father :• W. H. Clark. Mrs. Fred Catlin, who has been wisiting Mrs. F. E. Mrs. Edward Tanquary, one of the principal witnesses in the murder case 141 which her husband is the defendant, has been released from the pest house, where she was con- kfieed with an attack of small pox.— LeWistown News. The Moore Concert band will glee another concert on the night of Jan. 16th. 'Besides their reiguiar program they have engaged a saxophone quin- tet from Lewistown to assist. Fol- lowing the concert a dance will be given by the quintet. Claude Harper, one of the proprie- tars of the New Barber Shop, depart - ed suddenly last week for parts tin - known. .He was supposed to have gone to Judith \(leg to run a shop or a few days, but when his tune expired, it was learned that he had left there without divulging his des- tination. His friends are at a loss to account for his strange disappear - arcs. An enormous crowd attended the first Old -Time dance of the season given by the Moore Commercial \b at Clary's hall last Friday night and all enjoyed themselves te the ,utmost. McCollum's orchestra furnished ex- cellent music for the occasion. • 'A splendid supper was 'served at mid- night in the room e f djoining the hall. The club plans giving a numberof these dances at frequent intervals during the winter and will arrange the next one for the fore part of Jan nary, the exact date to be announced tater. Lindquist was in the city Sunday from Coffee creek, where he has been laying a foundation and constructing a veult for the new state Bank of Coffee Creek. From there he went to Judith Gap to com- plete some work on the Security, Bank building that is under con- struction. Cheadle of Les datown had been secured to act as toastmaster at the Men's banquet to he held 'here on New Year's Day. Next Saturday evening, Dec. 20th, Or. Clarence True Wilson, general secretary of the Temperance Society of the Methodist Episcopal church, will lecture at the Methodist church In Moore. Dr. Wilson is an eloquent and forceful speaker and, all should plan to hear his lecture on the ero,hi- bition question. No charge of °Aim's - Idea. Fire destroyed E. N. LeClair's rauch house on Indian creek last , the fire originating from a upau from the chimney lodging in the grass around the house. The house was occupied at the time by John Lets, some of his household goods also being destroyed. There was no insurance on the building. Mr. LeClair planS to rebuild at once. Al Morgan, former deputy sheriff of this county who was charged with the theft of a horse belonging to a railroad conductor, was acquitted at Ilia trial Tuesday p. m., the judge instructing the jury to bring in such a verdict. The testimony brought out the fact that the horse had been placed in Morgan's charge to be sold at a certain figure and that he had committed no crime when disposing of the animal. ,On Christmas night the Moore Woluntser Fire Department will give their sixth annual ball at Clary's hall. Music still be furnished by Me- Collaum's orchestra ond, supper will' tie served in the hall. Although the boys have not had occasion to re- spond to a call for some time, they are always in readiness and during the past have shown their willingness when fire broke out, to protect the citizens' interests. These boys re- ceive absolutely no compensation for their hard work at these critical times, but they need funds for smallain l expenses expenses ineidental to maintaining the company and all true hearted citizens should aid them by attending the ball. The Lewistown Chamber of Com - merce will hold a Dollar Dinner at the now hotel Fergus tomorrow eve- ning, following Which the hostelry will be thrown open to the public for inspection. Forbes Bros., the vroprietors, will open the hotel for businesa Saturday. Last Saturday evening E. 0. Hed- rick. A. D. Scott and J. H. Morrow, representing the betaking fraternity of Moore, attended a banquet given by David Hilger, president of the First National Bank of Lewistown, at the Bright Hotel. Mr. Hilger was host to about forty of the active Jud- ith Basin bankers and proved himself a most hospitable and royal enter- tainer. Memories and many, humor ous incidents of the pioneer day of this valley were recalled in toasts that ,• were responded to, and these iie;s .lived here but a few years were considerably amused at the anecdotes relate,' showing how the \sheep -herders\ had graduated into the heads of banking inatitutioes and other 'business lines. The banquet was a very pleasant affair and thor- \. ply enjoyed by all. An Interesting meeting of the COln - rnercial Club was held last evening, The committee in charge of theV, , Old Time dance submitted their re- port showing a surplue on hand. The success of this affair resulted in a decision to hold another similar dance on Friday, January 23rd. The ccmmittee handling the Farmers' In- stitute to be held at Moore. Satur- day, January 10th, reported. favorably and arrangements will probably be made for exhibits of stock, grains, 'vegetables and butter for prizes. The same lecturers conducting the Short Coarse at Lewistown will be at the Moore meeting. The propositions of consolidation of schools and the flour mill were referred .to a. latter meeting, when' the details will be ob - tained. A committee was appointed to look after the dragging of roads in this vicinity. A contest to In- crease tha membership of the Club, especially 'more garmers was launch- ed. The membership 'was divid - ed by lot into two sides, and a con- test will be conducted until Jan. 21st. 'The losing side will banquet the win- ners at some later date. 'The two sides were already at work early this morning and from present Indications the membership will be at least doub - led When the contest closes.
