It's a time when we remember the resurrection of Christ. Christ's resurrection is the comerstone of the gospel (God's \good news\) and thus of the Christian faith. In 1 Corinthians 15:1-4, God tells us how the resurrection is es- sential to the gospel: \I declare unto you the gospel ... that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the scriptures.\ The reason the gospel is the corner piece of Christianity is because it is the only means by which one can be right with God. Many have tried to become right with God through other ways such as baptism, confirmation, church membership, or moral living, but the Bible teaches that the only way to become right with God is through the gospel. Because God is just and holy He cannot overlook our sin. But be- cause God i$ also love, our sins can be forgiven! On the cross, Christ took on Himself our sins and bore the wrath of God that we deserved. The good news of the gospel is that God offers the gift of salvation to all who come to Christ in re- pentance and faith. Those who are depending on Christ as their only hope of salvation have much to rejoice about this Easter. The empty tomb that Sunday morning so long ago was a promise. Just as Jesus rose from the dead and went to sit on the right hand of the Father, so also all who trust in Him for salvation will be raised to eternal life in heaven with God. Do you have cause for rejoic- ing this Easter? Have you received Christ as your Savior? at, American Lutheran Faithweavers Easter Parade Putting faith into action, the youth handed out Easter commemoration items and carried the cross through the streets of Baker March 26 in celebration of the resurrection of Jesus the Christ. Air Force training expansion receives FAA approval By Lori Kesinger Last week the Federal Aviation Ad- ministration (FAA) approved the ex- pansion of the Air Force Powder River Training Complex (PRTC) over the Dakotas, Wyoming and Montana. including most of Fallon County. The designated airspace will become ef- fective Sept. 17,2015. When implemented, the PRTC will be the largest Air Force training space in the continental United States, span- ning nearly 35.000 square miles. The airspace will be used by B-1 bomber aircrews from Ellsworth Air Force Base. SD and B-52 bomber aircrews from Minot Air Force Base. ND. The four quadrants of the expanded airspace each have varying altitude sections of low, medium, and high with set limitations of use. Large Force Exercises will be conducted up to ten days each year, allowing air- crews to more effectively train for combat situations. Most flights in and out of Baker op- erate within the low -altitude section. The FAA is requiring the Air Force to meet certain conditions prior to its ap- proval for activating the low -altitude Military Operating Areas (MOAs), in- cluding communication capabilities. \They are trying to de -conflict as much as possible. it is limited,\ said Roger Meggers, Baker Air Service owner. The Air Force acknowledged in a study released Nov. 28 last year that low -altitude flights and sonic booms could startle residents and livestock in the region. It has not provided any in- formation on costs associated with the expansion, including potential dam- ages to affected landowners and ranchers. SEE AIR FORCE, PAGE 10 1'i t'' Nutt! That means no more rising early to shovel snow on cold winter mornings, no more late nights cleaning up after ball games. \I remember long nights cleaning up after the ball games,\ Ho said. \We would share in the Spartans' joy during a win and their sorrow over a loss.\ During his tenure, Ho enjoyed serving and working with a great faculty and ad- ministration team. \I appreciate the kindness and opportu- nities that have been provided to me along the way. I have many fond memo- ries,\ Ho noted. \I will miss the smiling faces of the students. I can smile knowing that I've seen many seniors graduate, go out into the world and be successful in their own endeavors. It's been like watch- ing my own family grow through the years.\ Over the past three decades, Ho has seen a lot of changes - a new gymnasium at the Longfellow School, new football and track field at the high school, and a variety of other things. \One of my favorite changes is the new bleachers in the high school gymnasium,\ California I3ad girlz Friday, April 10 9:00 p.m. Ho said. \In the early days it used to take two people to pull out those bleachers, now it is just a push of a button!\ Born and raised in Cambodia, Ho and his wife Ping came to the United States to escape war and find a better place to live. Sponsored by the American Lutheran Church, they arrived in Baker in 1980. Ho only knew a few words in English, but found work at various businesses before getting the custodian position. \Some people wondered ill could han- dle the job because I didn't speak much English.\ Ho said, \but I just started working and learning.\ Ho is the last co-worker of the original custodial staff he hired into. \I remember working with Bennie, Leonard. Paul, Myron, Sue, and Kay,\ Ho said. \They are all enjoying retirement, so it is time 1 follow in their footsteps.\ Ho intends to take it one day at a time in his retirement. He is planning to travel, spend more time with his children and grandchildren, and visit his sister who re- mains in Cambodia. \I'm excited to move on to my next ad- venture but I'm sad as well,\ Ho ex- pressed. \Words can't describe how much I will miss seeing the friendly staff and students throughout the hallways, but I'm not saying goodbye, just so long, see you soon.\ Simulcast Horse 41 ' Racing 31-1 DRINK NES FRIDAY & SATURDAY isit Our We' r
