Prom - \ Rustic Romance\ The Plcvna juniors and Mr. Mangold worked to- gether to present the 2015 Plevna Prom with the theme \Rustic Romance\. April 18 the elegantly dressed cou- ples sashayed dim n the aisle of straw bales keeping with the mood of rustic romance. The Grand March was fol- lowed by a dance with music provided by DJ Jessica Paul throwing the discus. Junior high track and field 'rhe junior high athletes competed April 13 in Bow- man. Courtney llidor placed 6th in the 800m run, Jessica Paul 3rd in discus, Ashley Sander 5th 100m and Colter Peterson 8111 in the 4(fihn and 5th in the mile. _ Colter Peterson racing to- ward the finish line. Local board leadership training Submitted by Elm Westover Fallon/Carter County Extension Agent Fallon/Carter Extension Office offered a Board Leadership Training Apr. 14. Dan Clark, Director, MSU Local Government Center, gave an energetic presentation and addressed the questions and concerns of our local boards. Topics included: Understanding Montana Statutes, Effective Meeting Techniques, Meet- ing and Board Producers and Rules. The educational objectives of this course were to describe and clarify many of the complex issues confronting boards and board membership in Mon- tana. The program was well attended and well received. Local boards that were rep- resented at the training were the Ambulance Board, Baker Fire, Weed Board, Town of Plevna, Plevna Fire, Fair Board, 4-H, County Commission, Plan- ning Board, Hospital Board, SMART, EMEDA, Cham- ber of Commerce, and Stan- hope Water and Sewer. The Local Government Center's mission is to strengthen the capacities of local governmental units and provide training, tech- nical assistance, and re- search to elected, appointed, and administra- tive officials. Their goals are to support local govern- ments in providing essential public services to their communities more effi- ciently and effectively and to build and sustain work- ing partnerships with local government practitioners and their professional asso- ciations. Dan Clark, Director, MSU Local Government Center, gave a presentation and addressed questions about local boards. Montana Municipal Insur- ance Authority, and the Montana League of Cities and Towns), Montana Tribal governments, key state agencies, the Local Government Committees of the Montana State Legisla- ture, and the appropriate de- partments, centers, faculty and staff of the Montana University System. Dan Clark joined the Local Government Center in April 2008. He has been serving Montana since 1997. Prior to joining the MSU Local Government Center, he served as the statewide director for the Montana Horizons program from 2006 to 2008. Previ- ously, Dan worked as a Montana State University Extension 'faculty member in Teton County from 1997 to 2006. During this time, he served as mayor of Choteau for four years. He earned his bachelor's and ma ter's degree from the University of Arizona in agricultural education and taught high school agricul- ture for three years before joining Extension. Dan was able to share his wealth of knowledge and expertise to help our board be more suc- cessful and effective.
