Canadian rock band Loverboy entered the music scene in 1980 with their self -titled debut album. They rapidly became one of America's most popular rock bands, selling more than ten million albums throughout their musical ca- reer. Loverboy accumulated four multi -platinum albums and numerous international gold al- bums from 1980 to 1987. Their tours sold out arenas and stadiums nationwide. Their hit sin- gles include \Working for the Weekend\ \Lovin' Every Minute Of It\ \When It's Over\ and \Queen of the Broken Hearts\. They released their newest album \Unfinished Business\ last year. Loverboy also played on mega tours with Journey, Bob Seger, Cheap Trick, ZZ Top, Kansas, and Def Leppard, and were one of the first bands ever featured on the MTV music channel. Loverboy still includes original members Mike Reno - vocals, Paul Dean on guitars, Doug Johnson on Keyboards, and Matt Frenette on drums, with Ken , \Spider\ Sin- naeve (a former member of Dean and Frenette's pre-Loverboy band Streetheart), who replaced the late Scott Smith on bass. City of Baker Clean -Up Days By Lori Kesinger The City of Baker is inviting all of its residents to come out and take part in a citywide clean-up to show how much pride they have in their hometown. Baker's annual Clean -Up Days are scheduled for Sat- urday, May 9 through Sunday, May 17. People are more than m elcome to clean up at their own pace. Service organizations are encouraged to contact the City if they would like to volunteer to clean-up an area. Containers will be available for public use near the City Shop at the west end of Milwaukee Avenue. The City is pitching in as well. The Public Works De- partment will assist those who are physically unable to haul their items. The items must be left on the street or avenue curbs to be picked up from 7 am. to 3 p.m. City' working days and from 7 am. until noon Friday. May IS; afterwards residents - v:in be responsible to dispose of their own items. Residents are encouraged to trim tree branches near streets and alleys and dispose of at the site in an area so designated or at the Fallon County Container Site. Other containers may be marked for disposal of certain items. The Container Site, located on Coral Creek Road south- east of Baker. is open every Wednesday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Disposal is free to all county res- idents. Vehicle hits horse on Highway 7 Four people received minor injuries when their vehicle collided with a horse on Highway 7 south of Baker. The Fallon County Sheriff's Office responded to the ac- cident at approximately 9 p.m., April 26. Authorities said the horse did not survive the accident. The occupants of the vehicle were treated by Fallon County EMS and transported to Fallon Medical Conii , ! • Baker residents participate in the 119th Boston Marathon By Lori Kesinger More than 30,000 people ran the Boston Marathon April 20, including two Baker res- idents. Isaac and Jacee VanDyke began training last December for the iconic 26.2 mile legendary course that weaves through beautiful subur- ban streets into the heart of downtown Boston. Both Isaac and Jacee trained almost daily. Isaac averaged 52 miles a week, Jacee 46. Isaac qualified for the Boston Marathon at In- dianapolis, IN; and Jacee at Fargo, ND. This year the runners battled rain, wind, and less than ideal conditions at the 119th run- ning, but that didn't hinder the race or spec- tators. Both Isaac and Jacee's parents and Jacee's brother and sister-in-law were in at- tendance to cheer them on. Isaac finished the race in 2 hours, 59 minutes and 32 seconds. Jacee finished in 3 hours, 34 minutes and 29 seconds. \It was an amazing experience,\ Jacee said. Thirty-seven runners from Montana, includ- ing the governor, finished the Boston Marathon this year. Isaac and Jacee have par- ticipated in other marathons, but it was the first time in Boston. They hope to return for the 125th running. saac waves as he starts the 26.2 mile run.
