Dear Editor, I received a letter from the Billings Gazette that home delivery of the Gazette will stop on July 11. This will be a major set- back for the City of Baker. I remember in the 1940s, the paper boy was the richest kid in town, a friend of mine, Buzzy Smola. It will be a hardship for senior citizens as they can- not get down to the post of- fice to get a mailed copy each day. We are talking about 100 people or more. We are working on a plan to have the copies come down by mail each day in bulk and have an individual or organization deliver them. Anyone who has ideas how to accomplish this, please call Drury G. Phe- bus, 406-778-2250. s/Drury G. Phebus Simple little safety message By Eileen Reddick Custer County Buckle Up Coordinator You are getting ready for the Fourth of July weekend, but before you do, take time to think about safety. The days between Memorial Day and Labor Day are some of the most dangerous and fatal on our highways. To date we have 58 fatalities, only two less than last year at this same time. We can shape our destiny by planning ahead. If you are going to drink, don't drive. Name a designated driver and give them your keys. Set the cell phone down while you are driving. Is there anything so urgent and important that you need to give your life for it? And most importantly, every time you get into your vehicle, Buckle Up even if you are just going around the block. Buckling up is the most effective lifesaving habit you can develop. Have a great summer and stay safe.
