If you or someone you know is age 80 or over and would like to share their life story, please contact the Fallon County Times at 406-778-3344 or email fctimes@midrivers.com Gotta Question? Q. How have declining oil prices had an impact on school funding? A. Jule Walker, Superintend- ent of Plevna Schools said, \At this point in the school year we have received three quarters of oil and gas pay- ments. For the 2014-2015 school year we received $1,023,417.15 in oil and gas revenue. Due to the decline in oil and gas, for the 2015-2016 school we have received $526,539.89. The impact this has on our budget in Plevna is that $343,400.00 was required for our General Fund which means we have less money to place in other budgeted funds for the operation of our school. These budgeted funds include Building Reserve, Technol- ogy, Flexibility, Transporta- tion, and Bus Depreciation.\ Baker Superintendent Don Schillinger stated, \During the 2014-2015 fiscal year, Baker Schools received $4,781,528.00 in oil and gas revenue and neighboring schools received $950,479 of Baker School oil and gas money through the concentric circle bill passed in a previous legislature. With the decrease in oil prices, schools are also seeing a significant decrease in oil and gas revenue which will certainly cause big prob- lems in the future. For the 2015-2016 fiscal year, Baker Schools will receive around $2,600,000 in oil and gas rev- enue and neighboring schools will receive no revenue from Baker oil and gas money. Therefore, the shortfall for Baker and neighboring schools is at least $3,1320)7. Yes, our schools need the oil prices to go up.\ Legal Tip of the Week Did you know ... that if you, can't pay all your taxes by the April 18. 2016 deadline, you can tile a return anyway and pay what you can?
