4 1N FALLON COUNTY TIMES of last week. Mrs. T.J. Westrope of Willard was a guest at the L.C. Bums hothe Thursday and Friday. While here she at- tended the O.E.S. school of instruction. Rev. 1.L. Cory of Hardin stopped off here yesteday on his return from Craw- fordsville, Ind., where re- cently he burned his mother, a venerable woman 90 yers of age. Rev. Cory is father of County Surveyor Cory. Len Churchill, the young man operated on at the hospi- tal Tuesday, is still in a critical condition but has a fighting chance for recovery. A large abcess was found in the ap- pendix and gargrene had al- ready set in. Baker's baseball team de- feated the Plevna aggregation on home grounds Sunday af- ternoon, in the first game of the season, after a hard con- test by a score of 10 to 9. Baker plays Willard here next Sunday. High School Commencement As annonced last week in this newspaper the Baker High School graduation exer- cises will be held at Owego opera house Tuesday evening, May 30. There are three grad- uates this year, they being Beatrice Emma Daugherty, Bessie Lillian Millard, and Harold Ellsworth Patton. The commencement ad- dress will be delivered by Hon. Theodore Brantley, chief justice of the supreme court of Montana. On Sunday evening, May 28, Rev. S.W. Pollard will conduct the baccalaureate services at the Congrega- tional Church. This is the first commence- ment in the history of Baker and should be attended by all - citizens of this community who have the welfare of the schools at heart. Under the efficient direction of Miss Carrie Bachtle, the first graduation class have ac- quitted themselves with credit and have set a high standard for future classes. All of them have made averages above 90 and each has excelled in some line of study. From Baker High School they plan to go to our own state university or to that of some other state. These dates were set at the an- nual meeting of the county fair board which took place at Ekalaka last week. The election of officers for the ensuing year resulted as follows: J.W. Grant, presi- dent; CO. Rickard, vice pres- ident; Wm. Mowbray, secretary; H.B. Albert, treas- urer; J.W. Grant, C.G. Rickard, J.W. Iliscock, George Boggs and All. Dahl, directors. The matter of improving the fair association property for the coming exhibition was taken up and discussed and another meeting has been called for June 6. Foote 's Fine Horses Admired HI Foote. a prosperous farmer living 12 miles south of Baker, was in town Satur- day. Mr. Foote was driving a team that attracted a lot of at- tention, an imported Percheron stallion that tips the beam at 1930 pounds, and his mate, a 1700 pound mare. Mr. Foote came in after his wife who has just returned from a visit with relatives and friends in Iowa. Miss Mina Monroe of Ekalaka was in Baker a few hours Tuesday. Mrs. Mary Leitch is passing a couple of days with Mrs. Burt Hitch. Joe Gemsley of Ismay trans- acted business in this city Thursday. Jack Cuncon was over from Ismay Thursday and Friday of last week. Miss Lillian Hildreth came over from Willard Friday and visited until the following day with her mother. Miss Martha Haftle, who has been on her ranch near Bisher the past week, returned to Baker Tuesday. The Ladies aid met at the Congregational Church parlors this afternoon. Mesdames. Wyman and Hughes enter- tained. W.O. Mieir, who has been in the east on business connected with the Baker Townsite Co.. returned to Baker Saturday. Phillip Lund of Miles City was here this week. He is thinking of starting a bakery in this city. Miss Katherine Bennett of Miles City visited at the home of Mrs. Claude DuVaul this week, enroute to her home in Mildred. J.F. Welch, deputy state dairy commissioner of Helena, was in Baker Saturday on business connected with his office. Mrs. G. Hetherington re- turned Monday from a three weeks visit with friends and relatives in Minneapolis. J.S.
