I)( ) REPLA(:FNII \ I 11 I \I )( )WS , Drivers 'Bump -N -Run' to first place finish By Sherry Vogel June 26 event draws over 900 people The Tr -Area Racing Asso- ciation (TARA) hosted the 17th annual off -road dirt track Bump -N -Run at the Baker Motor Sports complex June 26,2016. The sunny day was a pleas- ant 82 degrees with a strong breeze blowing. TARA pro- moted a truck class this year, as well as a pure stock class. A guaranteed purse of $7,500 sweetened the pot. The money The southwest end of the arena was also sloped to allow spectators to view the entire track. Concessions were of- fered on site with a covered sitting area and picnic tables. They also purchased the Limited second place car of Lander Novak of Colstrip. other area bid winners were Ismay Grain who purchased The truck heat was the first race of the day at the TARA Bump -N -Run. Rick Brown (32) of Baker won the heat Photos by Darlene Hornung Chase Wyrick (3) is closely followed by Aaron Warner (320), both of Baker, during the seventeenth annual Tr -Area Racing Bump -N -Run was split between the first five places of each class. The top five places in each class were also awarded trophies. Forty-nine racers rolled in from Montana, Wyoming, North and South Dakota to participate in the afternoon race. Spectators cheered on their favorite drivers as they raced, bumping and running around a newly vamped track. Many track improvements were made this spring, includ- ing better banked corners to help avoid rollovers. The track was widened to accommodate more cars, and two jumps were added to challenge driv- ers and thrill the crowd. TARA member Luke Holes - tine stated, \We added a big table top jump in front of the grandstand.
