ArchiteetCralle and wife are now at home in their residence on Third avenue. • Several ladies and gentleinen of this ¡lice have in contemplation a trip to the National Park. A- r vert- pleasant impromptu party was givên at Groesbeck & ‘\nipkins's Hall on Saturday evexJ of last week. Equestrian exercise is a favorite pa:White among the - ladies of Boul- der and there are a number of very graceful riders in the village. The festival of the ladies of the Methodist ,Church in Bouldet last Thursday evening was quite well at- tended and the receipts amounted to $65. A letter from Mrs. Elder to the Judge states that thé - lady is now in Chicago, having a most delightful visit and that she expects to return to Boulder the latter part of 'the month. PEK8t_fiti AN F A LECTRIC STORM. On the 6th inst. Boulder was visited by the most severe storm in the his - torte the town. Ue --- ai; was full. of . electriCity and the fluid struck neveraT planes. The residence of Mr. Feed. ndes, one of the handaomest buildings in the village, being the Cost prominent structure, was struck and à Sad wreck made. The bolt en- tered the house from the east, dembl- killing the chimney, a bedstead, and shattering .the glass in the parler windows and hi a mineral cabinet. The plastering on the north wall and the ceiling was also destroyed, a table broken and a screen door rendered useless. The current divided in the house and made its exit in four differ- ent places. : There were present in the house at the time Mrs. Berendes and her sIster- in-law, Mite Nettie Kuwarth, of Butte, and Mrs. Becker, of Helena. The ladies were in the hallway and the lightning in passing out went directly over Mrs. Berendes' foot. Aside front the nervousness mullioned by the bolt none of the inmates experienced any harm. Had the storm occurred,at night a fatality would have been the, result, as the bed to be oceuaied by Mrs. Becker, was destroyed. Tits Aos congratulates the ladies' on the preservation' oftheir lives. Messrs. J. Elmer andHorace Welch, of Hope, were in Boulder last week, proving up on their land. Geo: F. Readers will remember the trial laM March of John McDonough on the charje of house breaking and\ mali- dious mischief at Basin City. The Miner of the 9th publishes the follow- • McDonough and his mother . and' Jack Wall were tried last March for 'the above offenee committed on the premises of one Fanny McKinnon as well as on the additional Charge of -ireeeiv ing stolen, goods. Mrs. Mc I /on- ough and Wall were acquitted, while John McDonough was -convicted. His .mother yesterday went to the office of Curtis & Majors and matie an affidavit in which she assumes the blame to herself and details the Circumstances of the affitir in a mannertm'exonerate her son. She states' in her affidavit that her son is entirely innocent of the charge, being a block away at the time the deed was committed, not knowing even that anything of the kind was going on. She admits that she, in coutpany with another pensea . went to the premises of Fanny McKin- non, broke open certain barrels of whiskey, let the liquor run upon the ground and broke up her beer bottles. The lawless deed Was done with the object of driving the woman out 04 - town, as she was running à saloon and dance house and, tue. she alleges, so disturbing herself and her lodgers that they could get no rest at night. - She professes her willingnesé; to take her son's place in jail if that will satisfy : the law's demands. That. she has been restrained up to this time by sickness and threats from making the above statement. Had she been allowed to g .e.... o ',Lena die thee tittle of the trial, as she professes she then dei sired,,die would have made•theadmis- sion then.. The eharge• relative to stolen goods fell to the ground, as everything moved from Fanny McKin- non's saloon was destroyed. The affidavit is to be•sent to the Governor, together with such other evidence as may lfé necessary to secure her lion's release. THE DCNSTONE MININ(. 03. ' • [Montauk Mining Heview, Helena.] '- Recent developments in the Ihnidone mine have placed it among the bonan- zas of Montana. 'At the depth of 'about sixty -tive feet a cross -eut of the vein slinws a solid body of nearly or feet in thickne of galena, ..unpregnat Y copper, t',than $150 per y of the gray, copper by itself shows 516.4 ounces silver; $20.50 in gold; ten percent copper, and. forty percent of lead. The aver- age of the entire dump is not less than sixty pui -'cent lead. Realizing the importance of this mine to the future -welfare of the Elkhorn camp, the 0Wheiii of the C. and D. smelter have purchased largely of' the stock held - by the original owners of the mine, and if the Dune'« continues producing such ore as it is now throwing in sight, the smelter will be started again in a short time. An abundance of good grade of ore is nowon the dump of the C. and D. mine which carries about ten percent of lead, and with this ore from the Dunsame can be read- ily turned into a high grade lead bullion. . . Keeping the Dunstone - ore in the cant) will secure for their company a better price for their output, while it Will result in the utilization of a large output from the C. and D. mine and also active work at the smelter, and it • will become an important factor in the determinfilion of a railroad to that 'splendid camp, for it is tonnage that znaltes, transportation facilities val- uablé. , . . .
