Considerable quantities of rich ore are being taken out. It is to some extent of lead, and shows well in gray copper. For about a mile and a quarter there runs a tramway, almost com- pleted from the pre (lump to the site of the Mantle mine buildings. One of them for years bad daily \walked his beat\ as a policeman in the goodly city of Gothatal on Manhattan Island, and looked after di morals of that metropolis. He and his brother came. here, stumbled upon a rich lead, real- ized a good bonus in cash and bonded it for , a snug nest egg. Now they have a New Year's gift prepented each other with a half interest in each of the two discoveries above named. The hills are pretty well covered with snow. The mercury lingers be- low zero and happy is he who has plenty of supplies and a warm cabin to enable him to keep comfortable till the groundhog crawls out to look for his shadow. D. C. R. RADERSBURG MINES. . [Correnponden \ e Helena ladainadent.1 RADEJL4BURG, Jan. 5.--Cetlar‘Plains mining district, situated one or two miles from here, is showing signs of great activity. The Keating mine. which produced so much gold when Other mines in the Territory lay dor- mant, is agaib coming to -the front. In the last fifteen months it has pre- . duced 5.000 tons of ore, the assay value of which has been between 825 and $30 a ton in gold, and HI mine looks better to -day than it ever did. A - big strike has been Made in the Ohio mine, another celebrated produc- er in this 'district., by Jewell ifx 0o.,, who have the mine leased. They have Struck a large body of free -mill- ing ore that pays the' $e,9 and $40 a ton. The Leriailian is bonded by its own-, er to eastern capitalists. The Iron Age le being developed. and it is expected will be one of the • paying mines in the district. The sulphuret ore is gold -bearing. which at the present day is in great demand at the smelters.. Another promising property is owned by Keating & Clarke. who have kept thirty teams employed hauling ore to the Helena Mining and ¡eduction Company. Mr Parker has uncovered a large body of lead ore, riel in silver. Mr. Dolman is sinking and • develop- ing a mine from which he has shipped se - Vital cars -of ore to Tenon, which bids fair to become one of the pay- ing thihes of Jefferson county. At the head of Keating gulch Mr. Horn is opening up a large copper prospect. which he says is over thirty feet wide. carrying- thirty percent copper and sixty ounees of silver. • Morse. Keating &. '1. • GREEN COPPER MINE. !Montana Mining Review; Helena.] This mine, located on the old Boze- man stage road, over which the stage has driven ever since Bozeman and Radersburg had an existence, is known mue the Green Copper mine. The mine is distant from Tostou, on. the North- ern Pacific railroad, about seven miles, about four miles from Radersburg and forty-five from Helena. Above the water level the ore averaged about eighty percent, copper and 269 ounces silver. The shaft on the property is now down about 100 feet, but stater hag stopped -. work for . the present.
