Register, now is the time. Regular September meeting of the Board of County Commissioners begins next Monday. The regular meeting of ‚McPherson Poet, Grand Army of the Republic, takes place in Boulder to -morrow evening. The bazar of the Ready Workers of the Presbyterian church announced for next week promises to be a grand° success. It is the sacred duty of every citizen to register, no matter what party he belongs to. Don't put it off until the last day. The public school in the Boul- der District commences Monday, September 8th, with Prof. and Mrs. Brown as teachers. Probate Judge John II. Fisk is- sued a .marriage license yesteday, August 27th, to Mr. Florau Bottler and Miss Ella Freeman, both ' of Raderisburg. On Thursday last Probate Judge John II. Fisk appointed Isom Preuitt, Of Bedford, as County Commissioner to fill the vacancy occasioned by Mr. Geo. Lambert's resignation. Considerable ' gratification is ex - premed by the friends of Thomas Joyes because of his unanimous nomi- nation for District Judge by the d e - legates at Anaconda from the counties of Beaverhead, Madison and Jeffer- 8011. Dr. Holloway, the Territorial Veter- inary Surgeon, last week caught up with a man: who had brought some diseased horses into Butte. The fellow had twit‚ all his diseased horses and refused to tell to whom they had been sold. The Doctor marched him back to Idaho with his sound horses which of course had been exposed t4isease sending a deputy with the fellow to be sure that he went back. ' Mrs. Geo. A. Douglass favored Tan AGE last week with some Bitter Root apples, raised on the ranch of Mr. W. B. Harlan, probably the, most intelli- gent fruit -raiser in Montana. The gentleman is located near the head of the valley and makes a study of fruit ai.d his success is such as to warrant the hope that Montana's reputation in this respect will improve with time. The specimens are of the Tetofsky variety. BUSINESS NEWS. Bach, Cory & Co. received a car load of hay and one of oats the past week by the Montana Central. H. C. Hunt &'Co. are going to de- vote their attention in the future to the cheap counter goods and under- taking business and will therefore of- , .fer their entire stock of thrniture at \ two-thirds of cost price. Such an op- portunity to buy furniture should not be neglected by persons needing any- thing in that line. Frank McGown and Thomas Cain have opened their saloon on Main street last week, in the building op- posite the Windsor Hotel, and tuntil recently occupied by Boyce & Co. The room is nicely refitted and its ele- gant furniture makes it one of the handsomest in town. Both young men are well known and very popular', and will no doubt receive a good share of the public patronage. Tus Aug this week presents its readers with ai supplement contain- ing entire the proposed Constitution of the State of Montana. It is a document worthy of the careful per- I usal of every elector. As the chances ' are in favor of its adoption, it would be well for subscribers to preserve the copy, so they may have the organic law of the State within reach. SOCIAL GOSSIP. Miss France; MeTucker of Butte is visiting Mrs. 'C. W. Barger Miss\ Mary V. earkinson left yesterday morning for Helena, where she will remain a few weeks. Miss Mary M. Ratigan left on the Montana Central Monday morning for • Butte to remain three or four weeks visiting with relations. Mrs. W. H. Parkinson and daughter I3elle starts this week for St. Louis Mis3ouri, where they will visit friends for a few weeks. Be it true or false report states that since the croquet set was placed in 'position on tht lawn of the Palace Hotel, the grounds havé been the scene of many a tragic comedy. Mrs. Joe. Street and 'Miss Maggie Blacker, the latter of Radersburg and a visitor of Mrs. D. G. Warner fur the past few weeks, are visiting Mrs. Bridges, a sister of Mrs. Street, in the lower Boulder Valley. The issue of the Bitter Root Bugle last week contained the following item: \Mrs. M. Barrett, of Amesville, Beaverhead county, arrived in town Saturday to make a, visit with Mr. and Mrs. Frank Cook, who live near West Fork.\ PERSONAL. Among those who left Boulder on Suaday to attend the Democratic Con- vention at Anaconda were \V. H. Parker, Thomas Joyce, Thomas Murray and Will Kennedy. Messrs. W. B. Gaffney and V. A. Cook left last week for Milwaukee, the latter as representative to the G. À. R. encampment, and Mr. Gaffney to enjoy a well -deserved vacation. • RELIGIOUS NEWS. Rev.Mr. Hooker, Episcopal minister of Dillon, will preach this (Wednes- day) evening at the Babtist church in Boulder. Everybody is cordially' in- vited to attend. Rev. John Moor, the Southern Methodist clergyman recently assign- ed to Boulder, will preach in the Methodist church here next Sunday morning and evening.
