What is this?
Optical character recognition (OCR) is an automated process that converts a digital image containing numbers and letters into computer-readable numbers and letters. The search engine used on this web site searches OCR-generated text for the word or phrase you are looking for. Please note that OCR is not 100 percent accurate. If the original image is blurry, has extraneous marks, or contains ornate font styles or very small text, the OCR process will produce nonsense characters, extraneous spaces, and other errors, such as those you may see on this page. In addition, the OCR process cannot interpret images and may ignore them or render them as strings of nonsense characters. Despite these drawbacks, OCR remains a powerful tool for making newspaper pages accessible by searching.

STOCKMEN. Scrip location. Congress has closed, and the proposition to lease the public lands has been defeated, and cannot come up again until the next session. The. presidenthae instructed the secretary of the interior to strictly enforce the law against fencing the public do- main, and the date set for the beginning of such action is April 1, 1907. Would it not be well for you to protect yourselves and secure title to the government lands rather than take down the fences and construct new ones? But very little good is done to apply to purchase the same as an isolated tract, the cheapest way being to purchase scrip. By the use of lieu selection of the highest class, we can pro- cure title to public lands at a much lower cost than the same can be acquired in any other way. We guarantee the scrip. On Monday, Feb. 25, some twenty ladies met at the Presbyterian churcli at the suggestion of Mrs. Lehman. to discuss questions pertaining to the welfare of the children of the town. The possibility of the establishment of an industrial school was discussed. A committee was appointed to make investigation as to the procuring of some few of the 832,000,000 recently offered by Rockefeller to the educa- tional interests of his country, with the view of using them for such pur- poses here in Lewistown. The advisability of making the home Interests strong enough to keep the child off the street was discussed. The influence of the present public school system was touched upon, as well as lines along which our own schools might be improved. The practicability of the founding In a modest way, of a conservatory of music, drawing and painting, was con- sidered. Altogether, this initiatory meeting proved of so much interest that a permanent organization was effected with Mrs. Quickenden as president. All who are interested in the bet- terment of the environments of the children of Lewistown, mentally, mor- ally or physically, may be enabled to help the cause by attending these meetings, which are to take Place monthly. Date of the next meeting will be advertised in the city papers. DmIllmorad From the eDonald Creek Divide Orders Received at The Pair Store, Mahe Street.
