At Chinook last night Henry Stoin- man was considerably cut during a quarrel with eotne Mexican shearers. He had some troublo with them in Kellie Graham’s house, and knocked one down. They went outside to fight it out, and tho cutting ¡occurred in the yard.' Two of the Mexicans are under arrest. Steinman’s injuries, though painful, aro not dangerous. Tho pooplo of this community wore shocked Tuosday evening to learn of the sudden death of Solon H. Brown which occurred at his home in Cho toau about 7 o’olook that oveuiug, after an illness of loss lhau an hour’s duration. Mr. Brown hud eotne iu from his day’s work and had sat down with the other members of tho family to the evening moal when he complain ed of being sick. He was taken to bis room and Dr. Brooks summonod, but, in spito of tho medical aid, passed awav iu loss than an hour, Solon Harris Brown was born near Louisville, I(y., March 14, 1856. \Vheu but a small boy ho moved with his parents from Kentucky to Paris, Mo., where he grow to man-- hood, In 1880 ho was united in mar riage to Miss Nellie Myers Robards and in tho following year they moved to Helena, Mont. From Helona they moved to Teton county, settling on a ranch near Dupuyer, where they re sided until about six years ago when they came to. Choteau. Four chil dren, Robards, Nollio Doodio, Graco and Hazel Lillian were born to Mr. and Mrs. Brown and with tho faith ful and loving wifo aro left to mourn tho untimely donth oPa kind and af fectionate husband and father. Tho funeral survicos were held at the M. E. church yesterday after noon at 2 o’clock, conducted by Rev. C. E. Cunningham, who spoko a few words of consolation from the text taken from the XXXlb Psalm and tbo fifth verso: “ Weoping may onduro for the night but joy comoth in the morning.” Besides tho wife and children there survive Mr. Brown, an aged mother who resides at Clancy, a sister at Bozeman, a brother at St. Louis, Mo., and three brothers who are residents of Montuna. Mr. Brown was a mem ber o f the local lodgo Ancient Order United Workmen, in which organiza tion be carried an insurance policy for $2,000. The remains wore buried in the cemetery oast of town and wore fol lowed to tbe.graye by a largo num ber of sympathizing friends and neighbors. A special meoting of the electors of school district No. 1, Teton county, Montana, for the purpose of deter mining whother a county free high school shall be established • at Cho teau, Teton couuty, Montana, will be held on Suturday, July 6th, 1901, at tho district school house.
