The GreatNortbern is doing a large amount of work on tho r oadbed be tween Columbia Falls and Cut Bank, thoro being several hundred men at work. The track between the two stations is being newly ballasted, and all the wooden culverts romovod and replaced with stone. We aro informed that Jack Brew ster, formerly of Pond’Oreillo coulee, is alive and living near Wenatchee, Wash,, where his father is a large owner of cattle and horses. In the fall of 1900 a man supposed to bo Brewster died suddenly at Cut Bank, and uu inquest was hold by tho Teton county officials. This man was on his way to Washington from Valley county, where Browster lived for somo time after leaving this section. Mrs. Browstor, who is now living in Groat Fall, claims to have heard from him recontly.—River Press. Pierce, who came to Cho • • toau about a year and one-half a go, from Connecticut, died a t 7 the resi dence of his brother, on the M uddj, on Friday, July 4, 1902, after an ill ness with consumption, extending over a period of two years. Mr. Piorce was born in McHenry county, 111., M a y 12, 1865.
