Yesterday was tho first day of tho new year, ami from this on it should be recuomborod that venison may be dear meat. Moberly, of Shelby, h'as returned from Clarks- ton, Wash., where he arresleil V. M. Pyalt, a former resident of Shelby, on a warrant charging him with the crimo oi rape, committed on tho per son of Blanch Herald, at present a resident of Great Falls. Pyalt’s ex amiuatiou is set for tomorrow (Sat urday) at Shelby, but on the adyico of Lawyer Bair, who has been en gaged to defend the case, the ex- amiuatisu will be waived and the trial will be had at the next term of the district court.
