Uncle Jas. Brokaw arrived here à few days ago from his old home l in Iowa, where he has spent thé | winter. Of all the places on the map, Uncle Jim says that he likes Choteau best and afiys that he in tends to spend much of his time here in the future. ^ Arthur Hirshberg and bride have returned from a short honey moon trip to Spokane, Wash., and other points in the west. Since returning to this city they have purchased the Walter Gor ham residence property, in the Hirshberg addition, where they will be “ at home” to their friends in a short time. Dr. C. J. B. Stephens, the den tist, informs the Montanan that he will have rooms in the new Lar son building, which is to be erected on Hamilton street during the next summer. The rooms he ex pects to occupy are to be built especially for his business, with lighting just as he wants it, and will be strictly down-to-date in every particular. T. O. Johnson, who has been in Choteau during the last week in attendance on the district court in the matter of his suit instituted some time ago against T. A. Hal- vorson, informs this office that he was foiced to dismiss the suit for the reason that the weight tickets filed with the justice court and which contained the only evidence that he could produce in support of his contention, were taken from the files and he was unable to Io- j cate the same In view of this fact, on the advice o f his attorney, he consented to a dismissal of the suit. Gus Lawson, sn old-time cook of this section, avrived here this week from Canada, where he has been employed w*th the Taylor’s for several months, and has sccep ed employment with the Pioneer restaurant. The matter was taken under advise ment by the court, and it is not thought a decision will be render ed for several days. Both the advocates and those opposed to the creation of Toole county pro fess to believe that the decision of the court will be in their favor. The old Yeager livery stable on Hamilton street, owned by James Brokaw, was sold this week to T. O. Larson, A. J. Cowell, J. I. Cam and Walter Gorham. The consideration has not been made public, but it is understood to be in the neighborhood of $6,000. It is the intention o f the new owners to sell the old buildings at public auction, tomorrow afternoon, and to have them removed from the premises at once, and to com mence tha erection of a modern store building immediately. $$Z&2The¿N & e a t .
