The bishop has been coming to Choteau for the last twenty years. He is familiarly known by many of the old-timers, and it is to be hoped he will have a church full of people to welcome him to Choteau at this time. The bi«hop is getting to be an old man and it may be that this will be his last visit here, so let all who possibly can make it a point to attend these services. Zapata in the Game Vera Crnz. May 4.— A procla mation dated May 1 and signed by Zapata, published today in the local Mexican paper, announces that the southern rebels will on Mav 5 attack Mexico City. It also condems General Huerta and General Aureliano Blanquet to death. Members of a commission sent by thp Mexican government to in duce Emilio Zapata and his rebel followers in the south to join forces with the federal troops in case of a foreign invasion, were seized today by rebels on the border of the state of Morelos and held as prisoners. The federal go\ernment created a new military decoration today to he known a« that of the \sec ond North American invasion.” The defenders of Vera Cruz when the American bluejackets and marines landed there are to be re warded with this decoration it is stated. Montana Carries Dead Vera Cruz. May 8.— The bodies of lT American bluejackets and marines who fell victims to the Mexican snipers in the street fighting during the operations ac- eompanvingthe occupation of Vera Cruz, started on their way to New York today on board the armored cruiser Montana. Solemn h mors were paid by the great assemblage of United State« war vessels as the Montana passed out of the harbor, and those were joined in by vessels of the British, French and Spanish navies. The crews of the warships in full uniform lined the sides of the warships, and as the Montana reached each one the men stood at attention, marine guards present ed arms and the ships' bands plated funeral marches. Mediation Plans Washington, May 3.—The med iation plans of the South Amer ican envoys, who are trying to straighten out the troubled affairs of Mexico, went steadily forward today and while there were no formal sessions the mediators con- fei red in the next step of their procedure. The United ¿tate«, ihe Huerta government and General Carranza are expected to name their dele gates as requested by the mediat or« last night, within the next day or two The delegates for thi United States, it became known today, would not be officials close ly identified with the government. This has eliminated Robert Lans ing, councellor, of the statedepart- rnent, and in general all ether government officials. When the delegates of the three parties arrive it is expected the mediators will be ready to take up the crucial issues between the United States and Huerta, and if possible between Huerta and ('ar runza. It became definitely established today that General Carranza would not agree to the request of the mediators that he suspend military operations'against Huerta pending the mediation proceedings. It is said this will have no effect on onecking the general plans of mediation. Close associates of Carranza who ’nave now arrived here, say that no mediation between them and Huerta is possible and that any move on the part of the three med iators to include in their program a scheme for the general adjust ment of Mexican affairs, will he regarded as being outside the scope of their labors.
