Galbreath. one of the best known stockmen on the-Blackfeet ¿Reservation, died at a JSpokane hospital on Monday of this week, liver trouble being the cause of his death. He was reputed to be one of the wealthiest private stockmen on the Blackfeet. His »• ; holdings in the St. Mary region embraced a broad domain, of the finest grazing land, and each spring and fall he shipped hun dreds of head of cattle to Chicago and Seattle markets. He is sur vived by a wife and a number of grown-up children.—Cut Bank Pioneer Press. Mrs. F. F. Lewis had a narrow escape from being badly burned with gasoline Monday morning. She was using the fluid to clean up spots on the floor. Friction ignited the whole mass and a lively blaze resulted, which was subdued, however, in a few min utes with but slight damage in the house. Mrs. Lewis was painfully burned on the hands and arms but luckily escaped more serious burns.—Brady Citizen. Rev. K. B. Vaaler, the popular Lutheran pastor o f this city, has accepted the call recently ten dered and repeated from the church at Duluth, Minnesota. Mr. Vaaler leaves Montana rather re luctantly, however, and manv friends will regret his departure. The date set for his departure is set for the first part of July, but Mrs. Vaaler will go to her old home in Decorab, Iowa, next month and will join her husband at Duluth next fall. A farewell party was given in her honor at the home of Mrs. Thompson last Friday afternoon, many ladies being present.—Conrad Indepen dent. years. The shipment5 ^contained 2036 head. There is not a .day passes but that a great many visitors call at the Montana buU<|~-. ing, seeking information regard ing the Treasure State. It is not exaggerated when it ‘ la- said that more visitors are a t tracted to Montana’ s exhibits in> the agricultural and horticultural palaces’tban to any other exhibit in those respective palaces. Montana commission has put o a an especially attractive exhibit ins both of these buildings. Prob ably no other exhibits in the- ex position buildings are designed to- show the resources and oppor tunities of a state better thanr those of Montana. From present indications at the exposition Montana may expect a. great many visitors during the coming year. Burrell, Cho teau. cotn- He Mai land Luther Dickens, a homesteader north east of town came in from North Dakota yesterday to mence farming operations, stopped off at Glasgow and ta on his way and found selling at from 20 to 25 dollars per acre and 20 miles north of these towns, and he says we have a much better farming country than that at Malta or Glasgow.— Cut Bank Tribune. John Mclntee, who has one of the nicest 420 acres of land with a flowing well and good buildings, lying just three miles west of town has leased the property to Robt. West. Mr. Mclntee has been a farmer, and hog and cattle raiser, during his years of residence in this section, and that he now has a well improved farm, he is going to Butte where he will join his brother who is in business in the mining city. The many friends of Mr. Mclntee and his family wish them unbounded success in their new field, and that he has left an elegant ranch to show what can be done in the farming busi- ness in Teton county is of much credit to him.—Conrad Observer.
