Mayor Armour of Great Falls had business to attend to at the court house Thursday. N. O. Tuttle of Bynum was a visitor in Choteau the first of the week. At a public meeting at Power last Saturday, the people of school district No. 30, decided to call a special election to vote on the proposition of a 30 mill tax to enable them to carry on their school work. Mrs. Malone accompanied him and is now visiting her mother and other rela tives on the coast James Ryan, a prominent citizen of Great Falls, was seen, on our ttreets last Monday. Jos. Osier, who came from Helena to attend the funeral of his mother, returned to that city Saturday morning. • J.. W. Walcutt, the auctioneer re turned to Choteau Monday after hold ing a very successful farm, sale near Monarch last Saturday. Mr. Walcutt says live stock sold at extra good prices sheep bringing as much as $15.00 per head and other things sell ing .equally as high. W. R. Cooley of Spokane, who is president of the Giant Petroleum Co., which is drilling south of town, was visiting the well in company with other officials Tuesday. Ray R. Porter, the Bynum merch ant, was in. Choteau attending' to matters of business last Tuesday. He informed this office that he will soon engage in the mercantile business in Neihart and will retain his store in Bynum. Savory of Dupuyer and Mrs. Mort Hirshberg of Fairfield. Mrs.E. A. Savory of Dupuyer came in last Monday from her ranch house and will visit with friends for a few days. Judge Greene granted the applica tion of Bern! Edÿthea Archer Graves to change her name to Berni Edythea Archer SteClaire on Thursday. •The girls Friendly Society gave a delightful dancing party at the public school auditorium on Friday evening, in celebration of their membership into this very worthy and important international association. Nelson very pleasantly entertained a number of her friends at a Kensington on Friday afternoon. Mrs. C. S. McDonald entertained at n a birthday dinner in honor of her son C. Denzil McDonald! Denzil McDonald. - Milo Sabins, who lives at Dupuyer, and who had both leg8 bedly crushed last fall by having a traction engine turn over on them, is now able to leave the hospital and will go to his home today. Della'Leech of Bynum was \a Cho teau visitor the early part oi the week. The Dramatic department of the Woman’s Club staged a very clever little play during the social gathering held at the home of Mrs. G. C. Core. The Club members were enthusiastic in their praise and were brought to the realization that we have some real talent in our midst. The ones who. took part in the play were Mrs. C. Looney,. Bush and Mrs. VonSchriltz served a delightful lunch The Parent Teachers Association held its regular meeting at the public school Mpnday evening. Those who did not attend missed a treat as the paper on \Where the Parent has Failed, From the Standpoint of the Lecturer” read by Mrs. Looney and discussed by Mrs. Haugen and Prof. Ray was intensely interesting. The song by the High school Glee Club and readings by Miss Phyllis Green were also much appreciated. The association, by a unanimous vote, will join the State. Federation of the National Congress of Mothers and Parent Teachers association. Colonel James T. Stanford of Great Falls was in the city Monday and Tuesday, looking after bis oil leases. •At the regular session-of the county commissioners this week it was de cided to discontinue the office of county nurse. February 28th being the'date set for the closing of the office-/* ' ’ Mrs. Gerald Beach was hostess to a dinner and theatre party In honor of Mr. Beach’s birthday. The Friday Afternoon Bridge Club held their regular meeting with Mrs. James Eckford. Next meeting will be with Mrs. T. H. Givens. The ladies of the M. E. church are beginning the new year by putting some real meaning into their same— Industrial. First, their meetings will s»art promptly at 3 o’clock. Music lovers of Choteau enjoyed a rare treat when they had the pleasure through the Choral Club of hearing the program given by Mr. R. A. Keyes, Mrs. L. E. Lyford, Miss Mar jorie Grover and Miss Jean Graham of Great Falls. After the concert a reception was held In the parlors of the M. E. Church and a sumptioua luncheon served. One of the prettiest bridge parties of the season was given” by Mra. Phil I., Cole at her home Saturday after noon. The first, touch of thé valen tine season was in evidence and muçh mèrriment prevailed when each guest read her fortune which was tucked away in individual valentine favors.
