Monday all day the wind had blown strong from the west, and at 8:30 in the evening it was still blowing from that quarter. Heavy clouds lay under the lieof the mountains, hiding them from view. Suddenly the wind shifted to the nmthwest, blowing a perfect hurricane and snowing hard.
