Silverman returned from Helena last Sunday. Clerk Warner is busy these days talc ing the school census. Byron Corson has sold over a ton of Concord grapes the fall. Jas. Sulgrove is building a house on his homestead just east of town. Mrs. Bynum is building the. finest resi dence in Western Choteau coun ty. H. D. Blossom of Sun River, has been spending the past week in Choteau. It is about 1500 miles from Choteau to LaPlata, Mo., aB the crow [lies: We understand that Choteau is to have another butcher shop shortly. Next Thursday will be thanksgiving. The K. P .’s will give a dance aud supper at the Choteau house. Ohas. Loucks returned from M a r y s ville-on Wednesday afternoon, coming via. Steell and Davis Bro.’s stage. The Society of the Framers of the con stitution of M o n tana held its third an nual reunion at Helena Saturday. Mrs. Oslo, arrived from Portland, Oregon, Sunday morning and is now with her neice, Mrs. Byron Corson. Last week Chezura & Bruce sold the frame building on the corner of M a in and Hamilton streets to the Ralstons. Mose Silverman is arranging to attend school at Ada, Ohio, this winter. He expectB to leave for the east during the holidays. J, Silverman returned home from a business trip to the Dearborn and Hel ena. He sold his Dearborn property while away. C’has. Lepage has sold out his black smith shop here to Frank Truchot. Mr. Truchot will repair the building and open a meat market in it. There is to be a surprise party at Coffee’s this evening, so we understand by the preparatives going on among the young folks of this neighborhood. (Commissioner gray left for Benton at 4 o’clock Thursday morning to attend the official count of the vote of Choteau county. Hon. F. E. Leech accompanied him as far as Great Falls. Dr. E. H. Briggs, dentist, came in from Dupuyer last evening and to-day pro ceeded on to Creat Falls. Dr. Briggs thinks some of locating here if he can procure suitable rooms. News from Montreal is to the effect that a small bunch of cattle from Pincher creek, Alberta, N. W. T. were lately seized at Liverpool, England, under suspicion that they were infected with pleuro poeumonia. Another lot were seized and slaughtered, believing that they had the Comstock fever. N. T. Porter^ of the Cascade Land company, of Helena, is having a large tract of land broken near the flume this side of Freezeout. His men have been irrigating and- preparing the land for some time past and during the winter much fencing will be done, so that when spring opens a very considerable emount of land will be ready for seeding. Chisholm. The informant claimed that during last April the defendent sold whisky to Chief Little Dog and Running Rabbit, of the Peogan tribe. There were four wit nesses for the prosecution and two for the defense. The Iudians were not summoned. After hearing the evidence the commissioner held the deieudent in §300 bonds to appear at the next term of the United States District Court at Helena. On Wednesday Win. Lillard lost 50 tons of hay by fire. It appears that some boys who where buiding fence built a fire to warm their fingers and the wind blew sparks into the Btackaud set it on fire. Last evening being the first anniver sary of the wedding of Mi1, aud Mrs. Thomas Crawford, a very pleasant re ception was given to their many young friends of this community. A delightful time was spent by all present. Games and dancing were indulged in until mid-4 night when a grand luncheon was served by tbe hostess to their fiiends who wished them a happy journey through life aud hoped that their next anuiver- sary may be as enjoyable as this one.
