fpCT— ■ » ' ' I.' - ----- - Clianjgingr B i s T a c t i c s . [COMMUTED.] [Uiver Press] W. A. Clark is getting desper ate. He has tried everything else ur.der the sun, and some things under the cover of darkness, to become senator from Montana and in his desperation he has fal len batk on the Lord to help him in his perplexity. It is written of the patriarchs that they gave lithos to the Lord to help them clean up some neigh boring tribes, and generally with good success, but they were fight ing under His banner. Yet it has been reserved until the close of the nineteenth century lor the world to witness a millionaire candidate for the D. S. senate, fighting under a banner the Lord never countenance d, in despera tion turn to the Divine Puler for assistance, and theu do it by proxy. The chaplain of the house, Rev. 8. E. Snider, was I In* advocate who im p lied l L c Supixuie Being u. take sides with Banker Clark, and the petition was deliver« d in these words: “ O Lord, we have been earn estly requested to pray that the minority of this house fall into line with the majority.” Just when the Clark democrat» realized that it was time toinvoke Divine aid is not known, but it evidently was not when they were stealing a certificate in Ohoteau tounty; sending their emissaries around on night freight trains; or cracking champaigne in Helena Bribery, boodle and beer having failed to elect their man, the Clark people have switched on their system and appeal to he Creator to take the job oil their hands and complete it. After so confidently relying upon the theft of Leech’s certifi- ra e to make him senator, this change ol Claik’s i s a virtual ad mission that he finally realizes lb© Lord is a pomewhaf greater f >er#<-n/i:e tnan his fnVinl, the e*d< r ol Ohoieau county democ raey.
