Hilbert has in stituted suit in Justice Race’s court to recover from Amedee Dumon 5,- 000 shares of the capital stock of the St. Mary’s Lake Lubricaliug Oil Co., or their value, alleged to L : £300. Mrs. Hilbert alleges she was, prior to December 1, tho owner of and in possession of the stock certificates; that the defendant was indebted to plaintiff’s husband, aud that, he, with intent to deceive and defraud, falsly and frauduntly represented that ho could raise the money due Mr. Hil bert. if permitted to depqsit the stock certificates as collateral security; that the plaintiff believed his representa tions and made conditional delivery of the certificates to the defendant, who converted the stock to his own use and benefit; that the defendant never did intend to raise the money due Mr. Hilbert, but made false rep resentations to that effect as a scheme or device to procure an en dorsement and possession of the stock certificates and has persistent ly refused to return them.—Tribune.
