Both la dies formerly resided in Dillon and have many friends in the community. Feted at Shower—Mrs. Ingmar Oppeboen was the inspiration for a miscellaneous stork shower giv en Thursday evening at the home of Mrs. John Rebish, jr., who was assisted by Mrs. Martha Fie- ber. An evening of pinochle was enjoyed. A dainty luncheon was served by the hostess at the close of |he evening. Many lovely gifts were received by the guest of honor. Guild to Meet—Members of the St. James guild will meet at 1:30 o’clock Thursday afternoon at the guild hall, in the form of a lunch eon. The meeting is held to honor Mrs. T. E. Gilbert who is state president of the women’s auxiliary. Hostesses for the lunch eon will be Mesdames E. L. Poin dexter, George Hughes, Emerson Hughes, Howard Morse, D. A. Galt and W. H. Stephan. A full attendance is requested. Bridge Tourney—Group No. 2 of the beginners bridge tourna ment met at the ranch home of Mrs. Lamar Hatton Wednesday afternoon for a 1:30 dessert luncheon. Group No. 1 of the beginners met at the home of Mrs. Claude Lay Wednesday af ternoon also for a 1:30 dessert. Bridge games started at 2 o’clock. Riverside Club—On Wednesday afternoon the Riverside club members met at the home of Mrs. Florence Ditty. Sewing was the diversion for the afternoon and refreshments were enjoyed at 4 o’clock. Lutheran Ladies’ Aid will meet Thursday at the Gowan home at 2:30 o’clock with Mrs. John An derson and Mrs. Gowan as co hostesses. An interesting pro gram on Christian Nuture with special music has been planned. Baptist Aid—Mrs. Elsie Crouch will have charge of the program to be presented after the business meeting of the Baptist Ladies Aid, Thursday at 3 o’clock at the Cot tage with Mrs. Mina Perkins, hos tess. Harlem Visitors—Mr. and Mrs. H. W. Crossen of Harlem are the house guests of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Bramsman, having returned with Mrs. Bramsman who has visited relatives there for the past two weeks. verne, Okla., were united in mar riage. Leslie H. Simith, president of the Dillon branch of the Lat ter Day Saints church, officiated. Attending the couple were Miss Harriett Bills as bridesmaid and Leslie R. Burns, son of the bride, as best man, Mrs. Leslie Smith and daughter, Peggy, and Mr. and Mrs. Richard Evans. Mr. Dial is a minister in the reorganized Latter Day Saints church. Mrs. Dial has resided here since 1935 and has a host of friends in the community. Salt Lake Visitors — Mr. and Mrs. Howard Palmer and Mr. and Mrs. Homer Palmer motored to Salt Lake City, Utah, last week to meet a sister and brother-in- law, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Cox, of Minneapolis, Minn., who accom panied the Palmers to Dillon for a short visit before continuing on to California. Methodist Aid ladies enjoyed a program at their meeting last Thursday afternoon at the church parlors. Refreshments were serv ed by the hostesses, Mrs. Sam Cardinale, Mrs. L. T. Taylor and Mrs. E. W. Crichton. About 40 guests and members were present. Orr House Guests—Dr. and Mrs. R. R. Rathbone of Washington, D. C., formerly of Dillon, visited at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Orr last week. Alma Matrons Club of the St. James Episcopal church held their first meeting of the season at the guild hall Monday evening. Mrs. June Selway conducted the busi ness meeting after which a num ber of games of bridge and chin- ker-chek were enjoyed with priz es being won by Mrs. Harold Babcock, high, Mrs. William Mitchell, low, and the Rev. Lew is the chinker-chek prize. Thé serving of tasty refreshments by the hostesses, Mrs. Phillip Cot- tom and Mrs. Rorcoe Cornell, closed the evening. Dillon Visitors — Mrs. Jessie Moore and Mrs. Dorothy Edson of Harlowton visited their uncles, Dr. F. M., E. L., and Govérnor Poindexter, in Dillon before the Governor and daughter, Helen, returned to the Hawaiian Islands last week. Plans were made and the date set for a rummage sale to be held Sat urday, Oct. 4 in the city hall. Re freshments served by these new officers were enjoyed: Mrs. Ben Davis, Mrs. Luther Smith, Mrs. T. Lee McCracken, Mrs. J. G. Mattingly, Mrs. J. C. Faller, Mrs, Jim McCollum, Mrs. Lamar Hat ton. On the executive committee are Mrs. A. S. Johnson, Mrs. Carl Mast and Mrs. Harry McMannis. These officers were installed at the June meeting. Morrows Leave—Dr. and Mrs. A. C. Morrow will reside in Butte this winter as Mr. Morrow will be employed at the new stock yards there. Helen Morrow, their daughter, departed Tuesday eve ning for Los Angeles, Calif, where she will continue her schooling. Student Departs—Mr. and Mrs. Lew Brundage left last week for Charlottsville, Va., where Lew will continue law school, after spending the summer vacation at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. M. Brundage. Mrs. Stahl Honored—Mrs. Paul Stahl was honor guest at a birth day dinner party Aug. 31 at the Farley ranch home at Polaris. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Farley and Wal ter Hill were the hosts on the occasion. A sumptuous dinner was served at an attractively dec orated table which held covers for Mr. and Mrs. Paul Stahl, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Bell, Mr. and Mrs. John Tessier of Dillon, Mr. and Mrs. Elwiq Bell of Billings, and Mr. and Mrs. John Nelson of Seattle, Wash. Following dinner, pinochle furnished enjoyment. The lovely bouquets of flowers used for decoration were brought from the Frank Bell ranch. Bridge Luncheon — The last bridge luncheon of the Dillon Country club was held Wednes day at 1:30. Mrs. R. M. Barrett, Mrs. T. Lee McCracken and Mrs. R. M. Stone were hostesses. Members and their out-of-town guests enjoyed the party. L.D.S. Relief Society—The Lat ter Day Saints Relief Society met at the church Tuesday afternoon at 2 o’clock with Ada Dieterle, president, presiding and Ethel Casterline conducting the work and business meeting. The re mainder of the afternoon was spent working on quilts. St. Rose Guild to Meet—Mrs. F. J. Tonrey and her mother, Mrs. M. A. Mat tingly home the past few days were Douglas McArthur of Glen dale, Calif., Mr. and Mrs. John Donleson, Jack Jeffers and Mrs W. E. Stokes of Roundup, and Vick Roberts of Glendive, Mont. Child Study Club—Group No. 2 of the Child Study club met Wednesday evening at the home of Mrs. George Elwell with Mrs, Hans Anderson as joint hostess. Just-a-Mere Club members will meet Thursday afternoon at the home of Mrs. John Spear. Students to Leave — Students who plan to leave for school soon are Bill Davis, Frank Bayerd, John Carr and Bill George. They will leave Saturday for the Uni versity of Washington. Ethel Mary Forrester will leave Satur day for Mills College, and Eliza beth Wilkinson will attend Carle- ton college and plans to leave this week, also. Visitors at Carr Home—Mr. and Mrs. M. S. Hopkins and Mr. and Mrs. Moraw of Helena, Mr. and Mrs. H. W. Crossen of Harlem and Miss Isabel Doyle, were visi tors at the F. M. Carr home last week. Mrs. Hopkins is a sister of Mrs. Carr. To Visit Son—Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Kelly left Wednesday for Camp Roberts, Calif., to visit their son, James. Whites Depart—Mr. and Mrs. Emery White of California, form er Dillon residents, who have been visiting here and attending to business matters, will leave this week for Illinois to visit Mrs. White’s sister for a month before returning to California. From Aberdeen—Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Adams, Clara Plant’s sister, and Mr. and Mrs. Jack Grimmett and son of Aberdeen, Idaho, vis ited here over the week-end with Miss Plant who has been quite ill. Mrs. Grimmett, her niece, plans to remain here with her for a while. Guests Honored—Mr. arrd Mrs. Charles Pilgrim entertained with dinner party Tuesday evening at their home honoring Mr. and Mrs. Lansing Waldorf of Seattle, Wash., who are visiting here. House Guests—Mr. and Mrs. C. Thornton of Oklahoma City are visiting with the Lorenzo Cushings at Elkhom Springs. They plan to visit in Dillon next week. The Thornton’s are for mer residents of the city. Rife Guests—Mrs. Madie R. Van Etten has gone to Missoula where she will locate for the winter af ter spending the summer vacation at the home of her brother, Jar- dine Rife, and family. Miss Ann von Tobel, instructor in the North ern Montana college at Havre, is a house guest at the Rife home also. Miss von Tobel is a sister of Mrs. Rife. ARMSTEAD MRS. O. R. IRION Correspondent Mrs. Victor Cushman and firs. C. L. Cushman are visiting rela tives in Blackfoot, Idaho. Mr. and Mrs, R. M. Gregg, of Dillon and Mr. and Mrs. E„ L. Fairanks of Lima visited Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. P. T. Scott, l - Mrs. Walter Bastian and chil dren of Dell, were Armstead call ers Sunday afternoon. Della and Jane Gravely have gone to Dillon where they will attend high school. W. P. Scott came up from Salt Lake to spend the week-end with the home folks. Miss Betty Barry visited a few days at the home of Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Hansen. Wm. Cutler has returned to work after an illness of several months. Mr. and Mrs. Coy Brown shop ped in Dillon Frida. Their daugh ter, Vertie May, returned home with them for the week-end. She is attending the Dillon high school. The Misses Todd of Mobridge, S. Dak., have returned home after visiting several days at the home of their aunt, Mrs. Merle Leggett. Mrs. Alice Chapman shopped in Dillon one day this week. Aureta McMenomey has gone to Dillon where she will enter the public school. Gail Andrews, Jane Gravely, W. M. Rule and Harry Widdow- son spent the week-end in Yel lowstone park. Ned and Billie Wellborn, Eileen Gordon, June Stevenson, Jose phine Howard, Bill and Eugene Hildreth are attending the Lima high school. The highway oiling crew and their families have moved to Armstead and expect to remain for a month. May Sprinkle, who teaches the Grant school, is staying in Arm stead. Carlton Crouse of Richland, Ind., is visiting at the home of his cousin, Mrs. Ike Rife, Sr., of Medi cine lodge. Mrs. C. C. Hansen was a Dillon caller this week. * Mrs. Juel Berg, Miss Lyola Mc- Cleery attended a meeting of rural teachers in Dillon Saturday. Mrs. Frank Rife and sons, Bob and Dave, have moved to Dillon for the school term. Mrs. C. C. Hansen made a busi ness trip to Anaconda Saturday to purchase the V. C. Given house in Armstead. Lee Tower of Lima has been visiting at_the home of Edgar Rife on Medicine Lodge. The Armstead school has an enrollment of 29 pupils this year. Mrs. Irion was a business caller in Dillon Wednesday. ' Buddy Scott celebrated his twelfth birthday Monday by hav ing a dinner and theatre party. Six of his friends were present to wish him many happy birth days. East and West we will only have the mail once from each direction every twenty-four hours, Raymond Peterson, who has been employed' in the railroad shops at Pocatello, Idaho, bad the misfortune to have his leg broken while at work. He is reported to be getting along as well as can be expected but will be in the hospital for some time. Mr. and Mrs. Derral Parker of Pocatello, and Dr. Harris Baugh of Glens Ferry, visited at the E. J. Keane home over the week end. School is well under way and our Lima school has a very large attendance this year. The hot school lunch for children coming in on the bus will be started again some time this week. Mr. and Mrs. Camas Nelson and Mr. and Mrs. Archie Henneberry motored to Glacier park to spend Labor day.'
