Education C * The Montana Education associ ation is holding a leadership training conference in Dillon on Tuesday, Nov. 15. A discussion group will meet at the college at 4:00. There^will be a dinner meeting at the An drus hotel at 6:30, followed by a discussion at 7:30. MEA offi cials presenting topics are Andy Oja, Ralph Henry, and Secretary M. P. Moe. Sebree ment are attending the annual meeting of the English Faculties of the Greater University in Butte Nov. 11 and 12. The group is meeting at the Montana School of Mines. • • • Chancellor 'George A. Selke is making an official visit to the College November 14 and1 15. • • • Western will join with the com munity of Dillon in observance of Armistice Day. Classes will be dismissed from 10 to 12 Friday to permit students to attend the public exercises. • • • President Rush Jordan and Lawrence Walker, director of training, spoke before Masonic groups in Lima and Dillon this week in observance of Nationa' Education week. • • • Western’s champion football team was honored and the home coming queen, Bernie Gleed, was recrowned at the first formal dance of the year, Nov. 14, in the recreation hall. Captain Alfred Fidler, senior of Dillon, crowned the queen. The hall was decorated with the school colors, orange and black, with goal posts behind the throne, Hugh Simmons had charge of the decorations, fiud Trask, senior of Deer Lodge, Bud' Mallee, sopho more of Anaconda, and Alfred Fidler comprised the orchestra committee. • • • Jack McDonald, Butte, sopho more, was elected captain of next year’s team at a recent meeting of the “M” club. Officers for this year are McDonald, president; Adonis Hinkley, Dillon, senior, vice president, and John McMa hon, sophomore, Deer Lodge, sec retary-treasurer. Admission to the “M” club is a recognition for achievement in the field of athletics. • • • Sadie Hawkins day is to be cel ebrated at W.M.C.E. with a dance in the rec hall Friday, Nov. 18— the traditional girl-ask-hoy affair. People must wear costumes as Li’l Abner and Daisy Mae. The most “eligible” couple will be crowned king and queen of Dog- patch. The Women’s Athletic as sociation is sponsor of the dance. * • * Miss Elinor Larson, instructor in home economics, entertained the faculty at a tea, following the regular faculty meeting Tuesday afternoon. * • • The student M.E.A. local is meeting Wednesday evening, Nov. 9. Eileen Hamilton, Missoula; Mrs. Mary Salzman, and Mrs. Mae Kington, both of Dillon, have been named on the program com mittee. Mrs. Zella Flores is ad visor. # • • Charles Russell Memorial week was observed at Western with the Art club taking contributions to the fund for erecting a statue of the cowboy artist in Statuary hall in Washington, D. C. The Art club meeting last week was strictly a Russell program. Several students spoke on Rus sell’s life and work, the main one being Charles R. Soha, Dillon, a freshman. Thursday, Nov. 17, the Men’s club will meet at 5:30 p. m. REICHLE Mrs. Dan Piccone. Correspondent The county superintendent of Madison county visited the Buh- rer school Monday of last week. Clarke Cocanaugher broke his arm when he ‘^bailed out” of a swing at the school Tuesday. Mr. William Garrison, who was doing some work at the school, immedi ately went for the child’s parents, who took him to a doctor. He is now in a Butte hospital. Wednesday afternoon the Rei- chle Home Guard club met at the hall with Janey and Catherine Bryan as hostesses. Mrs. Boucher and Mrs. Margaret Bryan present ed a very useful and instructive lesson on pressing. Mrs. Cliff O’Leary and' Mrs. Jack Sturm joined the club, bringing the membership to sixteen. Mrs. Berniece Rosdahl will be hostess for the Dec. 7 meeting. Each member will contribute some thing toward* the program and there will be an exchange of gifts. There will be a card 'party at the Reichle school Saturday eve ning, Nov. 12. You are cordially invited. The pupils of Reichle school will present a Thanksgiving pro gram at the school Nov. 19, at 8 p. m. It was decided to give a program now instead of at Chris- mas time when it is so cold and everyone is too busy. The young sters invite you to come to their program. Fete Grogan moved to Butte Friday, He plans to go on to Boston after visiting in Butte. Helgar Madsen of Dillon is helping Bob Rutledge get out some poles for fence posts. Mr. and Mrs. C. Carpita and Mr. and’ Mrs. J. Walters of Dillon were guests at the Piccone home Sunday. Gene Bond of Dillon visited at the Boucher home Sunday. ST. JAMES’ EPISCOPAL CHURCH Rev. Arthur B. Ward, rector. News Items Mrs. Robert Selvage and her two children were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Wilber Squires and fam ily last week. They returned to their home at Bozeman last Sun day. Mrs. Selvage is a sister of Mrs. Squires. The guests at the birthday sup per for Clarence Anderson a t the ranch home of Mr. and Mrs. An dersen, south of Dillon, last Wednesday were Mr. and Mis. Bill Koeneke and Anita and Mr. and Mrs. Bill Tovey and Carol. The Lutheran WMF food sale last Saturday was very successful. The WMF is very 'grateful to all who helped make it so. Mrs. H. C. Hansen and Pastor, and Mrs. Hjortholm called on Mr. and Mrs. Ingvard Jensen and fam ily at their farm home, east of Dillon, last Sunday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. John H. Andersen, jr., from Alder, were dinner guests of Mrs. H. C. Hansen at her home on Kentucky avenue last Sunday.
