LIMA NEWS Wed., Noy. 30,1949 Past officers’ night was held in Elva Boardman chapter last Tues day evening, Nov. 15. The meet ing was presided over by Mrs. Verna Jenkins as worthy matron and Lee Martinell as worthy pa tron who were the presiding of ficers of the chapter together in 1940. Other past officers holding offices for the evening were Lu- ella Kellett as associate matron, Bay Martinell as associate patron, Clifford Calvert as secretary, Hen ry Fitter as treasurer, Gladys Quigley as associate conductress, Ethel Knox as conductress, Ralph Quigley as chaplain, Iva Lea Orr as marshal, Valeria Pierce as Adah, Ruth Gosman as Ruth, Ad da Wilson as Esther, Verla Nor man as Martha, Grace Martinell as Electa, May Cantrell as warder and Alfred Manning as sentinel. Dr. R. D. Curry, past grand pa tron of Montana, was introduced and presented in the East and presented with a gift from the acting matron. Lucy Ford Walk er, who is a charter member of Elva Boardman chapter as well as a past matron of Elva Boardman and Mizpah chapter in Dillon, was presented in the East and re ceived a gift. Hilma Merrell, the worthy matron, and Elza Franks, worthy patron, were introduced and presented with gifts. Gladys Quigley, member of instruction committee of the grand chapter, was introduced also. Mrs. R. D. Curry was present also. Following the regular meeting the regular officers gave a “School Days” skit and ceremony honor ing the past officers. Hilma Mer rell acted as school mistress and the other officers were the pupils in gingham dresses and hair bows also chewing gum. The past of ficers were all presented with gifts from the present officers. Very delicious and generous re freshments were served by the present officers to '55 members and guests. A most enjoyable evening was spent in fellowship with our past officers and all who were present. Preceding the lunch an auction sale was held by Fred Mitchell as auctioneer and the Masonic home committee. $67.45 was raised for our Masonic home in Helena. We are very grateful to all who donated articles for the sale as well as those who bought the articles. Nineteen members of the O.E.S. spent a very delightful evening in Dubois recently enjoying their hospitality on friendship night in Bright Star chapter, O.E.S. Games and refreshments were enjoyed following the regular meeting. The O.E.S. club Christmas par ty will be held at the Masonic hall Thursday afternoon, Dec. 8. The party will be preceded by a no-host luncheon at the White Cafe at 2 p. m. Please make your reservations early. The annual Pythian Sisters (ba zaar will be held on Thursday, Dec. 1, at the Peat hotel dining room. Chili, pie and coffee will be served by the sisters starting at 11:30 a .m. There will also be a food sale, an apron sale, and lots of fancy work that the sisters have been working on all year. Mrs. Kenneth Iverson and Mrs. Thomas McGuire were Dillon shoppers on Tuesday. Those in at tendance were Mr. and Mrs. Ja cobson, Mrs. Kenneth Iverson and children and the host and hostess, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas McGuire. Mr. and Mrs. R. F. Bammert and daughter Carolyn were shop pers in Butte on Friday. Quite a number of residents of Lima and Dell attended the tur key shoot which was held at Red Rock on Sunday. Not all were successful in getting turkeys. The 4-H clubs of Dell and Arm stead which are sponsored by Mrs. Maurice Wolfe and Mrs. Walter Bastian held a very successful square dance party at the Dell Community hall on Friday eve ning. There was a large attend ance of teen-agers from Armstead, Dillon, Lima and Dell. Refresh ments were served after the dance. The Harkness orchestra from Big Sheep furnished the music for the dancing. The Pythian Sisters Sewing club met at the Pythian hall Nov. 18 with Mrs. Gladys Owens and Mrs. Jeane Jensen as hostesses. The afternoon was spent playing cards and sewing. Mrs. Anna Swoboda held high score. Mrs. Evelyn Burt and Mrs. Ethel Hoad- ley drew the all-cut. A delicious lunch was served at the close of the afternoon to 16 members and one child. Ranger Roy Mart was a busi ness caller in Dillon Monday. Mrs.. Kurt Raddatz returned from Oakland, Calif., Wednesday where her son, Donald, is improv ing at the U. S. Naval hospital aft er being seriously injured in a car collision. Miss Betty Raddatz returned from Oakland, Calif., Sunday aft er spending a few days with her brother, Donald, and after spend ing a few days in Pocatello, re turned to Dell where she is em ployed with the railroad com pany. The Lima home demonstration club will meet Nov. 29 at 2 p. m. at the home of Mrs. Margaret Em- pey with Mrs. Jeannie Pruitt co hostess. Visitors welcome. Mrs. Bob Rife and son of Medi cine Lodge spent the week end with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. L. McCulley. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Thomas of Craig, Colo., are guests at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Mihelish and family in Lima. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Clark are enjoying a short vacation. Mrs. L. C. Lackyer returned home from the hospital in Butte and is reported much improved. Mrs. May Griggs is home again now after spending the summer at Pipe Organ Lodge where she has been employed. Mrs. L. W. Mullany and son accompanied her mother to Butte Monday. Her mother had been a guest at the Mullany home over the week end in Lima. Mr. and Mrs. G .L. Pierce and Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Pierce and sons Jimmy and Leo were business callers in Dillon Saturday. Rev. E. Pruitt Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. Blaine Rose of Rexburg, Idaho, were in Lima as guests at the Ralph Stosich home Sunday, leaving Monday accom panied by Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Rose of Humphrey, Idaho, for a trip to San Francisco. Zion and Bryce Park and also Boulder dam. Mrs. Ralph Stosich was a busi ness caller in Dillon Friday. Mrs. S. Bittick attended the fu neral of Tom Malloy in Dillon on Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. Jess Owen, Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Bateman, Mr. and Mrs. Guy Roy, Mr. and Mrs. C. L. Calvert were among those from Lima attending the Shrine ban quet and ceremonies in Butte. Mrs. Max Merrell and daughter Kay were business callers in Dil lon Monday. Thanksgiving Proclamation On this day of Thanksgiving, let us be glad that we live today in the United States of America, that we live at peace with our friends and neighbors, and that we share in a wealth of spiritual and mate rial resources that keep us healthy and secure. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Hungate and children, and Mrs. Goldie An derson, spent Saturday in Dillon. Mr. and Mrs. R. B. Lowder spent the week end in Rupert, Idaho, where they were guests of relatives. Mr. Lawyer's mother, Mrs. R. C. Lowder, returned home with them and plans on spending the winter with them in Lima. Bob Schiers was a business call er in Butte Saturday. Mrs. P. H. Peterson spent the week end at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Leslie McNinch, in Dell. The Knights of Pythias of Lima have completed their plans for their annual Thanksgiving dance, Thursday night, Nov. 24, at the Lima high school gym. At mid night balloons will be released from a basket for everv one to catch. This is an old attraction that goes with their annual dance. Bill Gandrud’s orchestra will fur nish the music and a 20-pound turkey will be given away. Ev erybody is welcome and assured a good time. Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Burt from Idaho Falls were dinner guests at the home of son and daughter-in- law. Mr. and Mrs. George Burt and family on Sunday. Mrs. Paul Martinell from Dell was a visitor at the home of Mrs. Martha Foster Monday, Nov. 8. Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Wing of Idaho Falls spent the week end in Lima visiting with relatives and friends. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Hoadley, Mrs. H. Hoenstine and daughter, Carmen, spent Thursday in Dil lon. Miss Karen Keller and fiance, Ralph Chadwick, Charles Hawkes and the Misses Marjorie Ham mond, Dona Fumiss and Royola Christensen of Moreland, Idaho, were guests at the Dee Merrell home over the week end. The young ladies were all schoolmates of Mrs. Dee Merrell. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Hoadley and Mrs. H.
