Á The first meeting of the New Year of the Eastern Star Sewing club was held Jan. 12 at the home of Mrs. Grace Martinell with Mrs. Lois Merrell as co-hostess. After a social hour of sewing and cards the hostesses served delicious re freshments. Twenty-three were •present. Mr. and Mrs. E. F. Patterson were business callers in Dillon last Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Manning and daughter, Leone, motored to Dillon Sunday. Joe Mihelish and John Burt re turned from a business trip to Jackson, Wyo., Saturday. They report bad roads and lots of snow. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Detton, Mr. and Mrs. Don Detton and Mrs. Jess Owens were called to Po catello, Idaho, last Thursday by the serious illness of their daugh ter and sister, Mrs. Marie How ard. Mrs. Owens returned to Lima Sunday. She reports her sister is very, very low. Formal installation of the duly elected officers of the Pythian Sisters, Tuebor Semper Temple, No. 24, Lima Montana, was held on Wednesday evening, Jan. 11. Installing offi cers were Mrs. Ethel Hoadley, acting grand chief; Mrs. Hazel McNinch, acting grand senior, and Mrs. Jeanne Pruitt, acting grand manager. Gifts and past chief pins were presented to Past Chiefs Ethel Bray and Jeanne Piruitt. Following the ceremony a deli cious pot luck supper was served. Community Church Holds Annual M eeting The annual meeting o f ' the Lima Community church was held Thursday evening at the church. Those attending enjoyed a delicious pot luck supper, pre ceding the business meeting. Re port was given by Mr. Norman, chairman of the trustees, on the progress of the addition being built to the church; report of fi nances by Mr. Norman, general treasurer; report of finances and attendance of the Sunday school by Mrs. J. Pierce, secretary and treasurer; report of the Wednes day Bible class, prepared by Mrs. G. Pierce. Newly elected officers for 1950 are as follows: Moder ator, Mrs. J. Patterson; superin tendent of Sunday school, Mrs. R. Kellett; assistant, Mrs. R. Weeks; chairman of pulpit committee, Mrs. F. Mitchell; general treasur er, Mrs. D. Norman; general sec retary, Mr. Roy Martinell; chair man of building committee, Mr. Roy Mart; secretary and treasur er of Sunday school, Mrs. J. Pierce; new trustees, Mr. F. Mitchell, Mr. E. Bertleson. Regular meeting of Lima Coun cil was held on Monday, Jan. 9. Routine business was carried on. The clerk was authorized to ad vertise for bids for sale of the town house. Bids will be opened at the next regular meeting in Februray. Mrs. Nettie Stephens left on Sunday for Great Falls and Hel ena to be in attendance at meet ings of the State Board of Beau ticians. Mrs. Mae Cantrell of Dillon and Mr. and Mrs. Hovey Cantrell and Linda of Dell and Mrs. Briggs of Kidd visited during the week end at the Stanford Empey home. The weather for the week end ing Jan. 14th as reported by C. L. Calvert: High, 31; low, 8; mois ture, trace. Mr. and Mrs. B. D. Murdock are happy over the arrival of a baby son born Friday at the L.D. S. hospital in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Mr. and1 Mrs. George Burt and children were visitors at the home of George's parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Burt, in Idaho Falls last Friday. They report Mrs. Burt feeling better. Lima Home Demonstration club will meet Tuesday, Jan. 24, at 2 o’clock at the home of Mrs. Ruth Berthelson. Visitors are welcome. Ranger and Mrs. Roy Mart and children spent Saturday in Dil lon where Mrs. Mart received dental care. Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Pierce and boys, Jim and Leo, spent Satur day in Butte. Mrs. Max Merrell and daugh ters Edith and Kay, were business callers in Dillon Monday. Lawrence Patterson went to Butte Monday for medical atten tion . Mrs. Cornwell and baby son returned Thursday from the Bar rett hospital in Dillon and are doing fine. Mr. and Mrs. R. B. Lowder and mother, Mrs. R. C. Lowder, at tended L.D.S. conference in Butte Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. L. C. Weeks en tertained 15 guests with a turkey dinner New Year’s. Mrs. Keith Lawder and two children are guests at the home of Keith’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. B. Lawder, after spending the holidays in Pueblo, Colo., visiting relatives and friends. Mrs. Evelyn Ethridge of Idaho Falls, Idhao, spent several days in Lima last week guest of her friends. The Ladies Society of the B. of L. F. and E. held their social party at the home of Mrs. R. C. Poole last week. Twelve mem bers were present and an enjoy able evening was spent playing Michigan poker. Luncheon was served later in the evening. Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Hoadley took their son, Melvin, to Dillon Saturday where he was treated for trench mouth. Mrs. P. C. Maberry and daugh ter visited with Mrs. Nadine Ful ler Friday evening. Mr. and Mrs. E. R. Gleed spent the week end in Butte visiting with relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Leslie McNinch of Dell motored to Butte Mon day. They were accompanied by P. D. Peterson of Lima. They re ceived medical attention. Mrs. Paul Martinell spent Tues day evening at the home of Mrs. Martha Foster. Mr. and Mrs. E. R. Peterson spent the week end in Lima and motored to Dillon. They were accompanied by their two sons, Pete and Dick, and daughter, Dorothy Ann. Miss Dorothy Colson returned Monday after two months visit ing with friends at Roberts, Idaho, and is a guest at her sister’s, Mrs. Martha Foster. Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Peterson, son and daughter, Billie and Elaine of Dell, spent Sunday eve ning at the home of W. L. Peter son’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. P. H. Peterson. Mr. Henry Dunkin spent Sun day evening at the home of P. H. Peterson. Mr. and Mrs. Leslie McNinch of Dell spent Sunday evening at the home of Mrs. NcNinch’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. P. H. Peterson. Past Matrons club, O. E. S., will meet with Mrs. Grace Martinell in Dell, Friday, Jan. 20. Mat Fagin of Dillon was a Lima caller on Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Hoadley accompanied their son, James, to Dillon Saturday where their son was admtited to the Barrett hos pital. Last reports are he is do ing nicely. Mrs. Arthur McMahon of Great Falls was a guest at the home of her sister, Mrs. J. W. Patterson, the fore part of the week. She had been in attendance at the funeral of her aunt, Mrs. Louis Arndts, of Dillon. Sections of Lima were without electricity on Friday night as a result of the high wind blowing a box car against the light pole and snapping it off. Service was restored before midnight. The wind reached hurricane propor tions before it abated during the night. A banquet honoring District No. 4 President Esther Porter was held at the Peat hotel Jan. 13. Some 40 members of the auxiliary and comrades of Erwin Paul Post No. 3534 were present. President Gladys Quigley introducing Dis trict President Porter and depart ment chairman of the national, President Evelyn Monocos “Spe cial Program,” Let Freedom Ring. Mary Patterson introduced three charter members present of Er win Paul Post, Comrades Quince Little, Tom Cantrell and Phil Ly ons. Tables were very artistical ly decorated with a wishing well and arch as centerpiece on which was inscribed “Let Freedom Ring” 1950, each place card or favor with a silver or gold bell. After the banquet the regular meeting of the Ladies Auxiliary to Erwin Paul Post No. 3534 was held at the school house instead of the Masonic hall due to the bad storm and district president making her inspection visit.
