McLaren opened his blacksmith shop in Dillon in 1903 in the building where Bond's warehouse is now on the corner of Idaho and Helena streets. The above picture, taken in 1904, shows McLaren holding the horse, and standing next to him is Dan Shively. Jew ell is standing by the buggy. The present Beaverhead Blacksmith Shop is also operated by McLarens. Jack has been blacksmithing in Beaver head county since 1914 and he and son, Dave, now operate their shop at 120 E. Center.
