He was born'on July 11 at St. Ann’s hospital in Anaconda and weighed 6 pounds and 11 ounces. He is the first member of the fifth generation in his family, having a great great grandmother living in Scotland, a great grandmother, Mrs. Isabel Lockrie of Butte, a grandmother, Mrs. Isabell Thompson of Ana conda. His mother will be re membered as a former resident of Lima, Myrtle Thompson. ' The Pythian Sisters Sewing club met on Friday, July 14, at the home of Mrs. Maggie Patter son with Mrs. Mary Hungate as co-hostess. A large attendance enjoyed the afternoon of pinochle with visiting and sewing. The prizes for cards were awarded to Annie McNinch, high; Jeanne Pruitt, low, and Jean Detton, all cut. Mrs. May Griggs spent several days in Idaho Falls visiting with her son, Gilbert, of the Post-Reg ister. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Smith left on a vacation trip to California last week. Tom Griggs was a business call er in Dillon last Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Padorotti and family and Mrs. Irene Pado rotti were shopping in Dillon on Saturday. Donald Raddatz, who has been here for his sister’s wedding, returned Monday to San Fran cisco, Calif. Mr. Pete Grant of Townsend is visiting his sister, Mrs. Julia Peat. Mr. Grant is a former resident of Lima. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Clark and Mrs. E. J. Rose motored to Ida ho Falls Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Pruitt and daughter, Martha Jeanne, of Rex- burg, Idaho, were week - end guests at the home of Jack’s par ents, Mr. and Mrs. I. E. Pruitt, They were accompanied home Sunday evening by Mrs. Pruitt, who visited friends in Rexburg, returning to Lima Monday eve ning. Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Pierce and son Leo went to Butte Wednes day to meet their son Jim who returned that day with the Vig ilante Boy Scouts from the Na tional 'Jamboree. Mr. and Mrs. E. R. Gleed spent Friday in Butte. Art Smith left Thursday for San Diego after spending his fur lough with his parents in Lima. Melvin Rose of Humphrey, Ida ho, spent a week visiting Michael Stosich in Lima. Mr. and Mrs. S. Bittick returned from a trip through Red Lodge, Mont., Cody, Wyo., and Jackson Hole, Wyo. O.E.S. Sewing club met July 13 at the home of Mrs. Ann Swoboda with 19 members present. After an hour of cards and' sewing, de licious refreshments were served. The next meeting will be at the home of Mrs. Hilda Proctor with Mrs. Nadine Fuller as co-hostess on Thursday, July 27. The Kurt Raddatz and Henry Ruff families went fishing up Big Sheep creek Monday. Mr. Erwin Stansell of Billings arrived in Lima Friday night. Hie and Mrs. Stansell returned to their home in Billings Sunday. Their daughter, Cheryl, stayed with 'her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Reeder for a few weeks. Oregon, were mar ried June 22. at a double-ring ceremony in the First Methodist church of Reno, Nevada. Mrs. Lutes has been employed in the finance office at Camp White, Oregon, for the past two years. Mr. Lutes is in business near Medford. Mr. and Mrs. ¡Lutes are making their home at Med ford, Oregon. William Wyatt and Vern Red- field of Idaho Falls were callers at the Bimat ranch last Friday. Mrs. Vern Christensen and Mrs. Kenneth Birch and children, Marva and Keith, were shopping in Dillon Friday. Mrs. George Burt and daughter, Betty, motored to Dillon Friday where B e t t y had a medical checkup. , Mrs. Joe Dowling of Dell was a caller in Lima Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. Serge Marshall of Idaho Falls, Idaho, were guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. R. B. Lowder over the week end. Mr. Robert Dusenberry and Mr. William Gambs motored to Missoula over the week end. They are employed with the local for est service. Mrs. R. Dusenberry is planning on coming to Lima to join her husband. Miss Rosalie Schultz who has been a guest at the E .J. Rose home the past, week returned to her home in Dubois, Idaho, last Monday. Ranger and Mrs. Ray Mart and family motored to Butte Friday. They accompanied Mr. Mart’s niece, Joan, who was returning to her home in Thompson Falls after a month spent visiting them in Lima. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Ruff and family of Maxbass, N. Dakota, arrived at the home of Mr. Ruff’s sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Kurt Raddatz, and fam ily to attend the wedding of Miss Betty Raddatz and Mr. Kenneth Koho last Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Mullany and son spent the week end in Butte. Mr. and Mrs. Donald Downing were callers at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Walt Hungate Sunday. They were en route to their home in Nampa, Idaho, after being called to Butte by the accident to Donald’s sister. Mrs. Fern Steffes. Mrs. Adda Wilson and Mrs. L. W. Mr. and Mrs. Odell Jensen and daughter, Anna Marie, motored to Idaho Falls, Wednesday, re turning home Friday accompa nied by Odell’s mother, Mrs. An na Jensen. Mr. H. R. Foster was a business visitor in Butte Monday. Mr. and' Mrs. Harry Allen, Mr. and Mrs. Dan Peterson and Mrs. La Vera McKinzie and son, John, of Dell, attended the wedding of Miss Betty Raddatz and Kenneth Koho in Lima Saturday evening. Mr. and Mrs. L. C. Weeks and son, Bobby, and Jimmy, Albert and Katherine Kington motored to Butte Sunday to visit Mrs. Weeks’ mothers, Mrs. Jim Grave ly, who is a patient at the Mur ray hospital and they report her as doing nicely. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Copley and daughter, Sharon Ann, of Butte were guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. E. P. McMahon and fam ily Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. R. R. Jacobs spent Thursday in Butte. Mr. and Mrs. G. G. Bateman and family left Friday on a vaca tion trip to Canada. Mrs. A. L. Minning was called to Louisiana by the serious ill ness of her mother. Mr. and Mrs. E. P. Pinochle was played with prizes going to Miss Hallie Stephens, high; Miss Amy Steph ens, consolation; and Mrs. Ray mond' Johnson, traveling prize. At the close of the evening the hostesses served a delicious lunch. Eighteen ladies were present to wish Mrs. Golay happiness and success in her new home. Mr. and Mrs. Golay and their family left Sunday for their new home in the Bitter Root valley. Mr. and Mrs. L. W. Gillette and daughters, Shirley and Kay, of Muskegon, Mich., were over night guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Len Smith. Mr. and Mrs. Dell Lloyd mo tored to Butte, Wednesday, to meet their son, Gene, who had at tended the National Jamboree of Boy Scouts at Valley Forge. Mrs. C. R. Townsend and daughter, Carol, of Ely, Nevada, visited at the Roy Oliver home several days last week. Mrs. Stewart Capehart and children were Butte shoppers last Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Helming, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Oliver, and Harold Capehart spent the week end at their cabin at Twin Lakes. Evelyn Lloyd and Mrs. Edwin Whitworth were callers in Wis dom, Thursday. Mrs. Nellie Mullen and Mrs. J. C. Shields of Butte and Mrs. Ned Staples of St. Louis were guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Stewart Capehart Wednesday. A large crowd of ranchers from every section of the valley at tended the auction sale at the Ernest Golay ranch Wednesday. After the sale, Mrs. Golay served doughnuts and coffee to all those attending. Week-end guests at the Stewart Capehart home were Mr. and Mrs. kins last Friday afternoon. After the 'business meeting, delicious birthday refreshments w e r e served in honor of Mrs. Frank Gos man and Mrs. Marion Merrell. The next meeting of the dub will be held at the home of Mrs.. Frank Gosman Aug. 11. George Kennedy is working in the Centennial vallev again this summer with the U. S. geological survey group. Mrs. Nadine Fuller left Satur day for West Yellowstone where she met her son, Dr. H. W. Fuller, and his two daughters of Great Falls, Montana. They accompa nied Mrs. Fuller to Lima Monday and plan on visiting her for a few days. Quarterly vacation Bible school was opened Monday morning at the Lima Community church at 9 a. m. and 1 to 3 p. m. for chil dren. and adults from 3:30 to 4:30 p. m. Charles Shannon and' children of Butte, and Mrs. Bryant Rooney a n d children of Goldendale, Washington. Lynne Stephens is spending a week visiting with her grand mother, Mrs. Joe Arbour of Dil lon. Mr. and Mrs. George Powe and family of Roslyn, Washington, were over-night guests of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Glassey. Mrs. Glassey, who is a sister of Mr. Fowe’s, accompanied them to Deer Lodge Wednesday to visit with another sister,and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Cunningham. Soiren Christenson returned to his home in Wisdom, Monday, after several weeks spent visiting relatives and friends on the coast. Craig Wenger left Tuesday to visit with his grandmother, Mrs. Winnie Hughes, at Shelby, Mont. Clifford McNeer returned Sat urday from Butte where he had gone for medical attention for an injured hand. Friday afternoon, Mrs. Clar ence Helming honored her moth er, Mrs. Ellen Kramer, on her birthday with a pinochle party which 22 ladies attended. Prizes were won by Mrs. Richard Gal lup, first; Mrs. Roy ZeBarth, con solation, and Mrs. Claude Ander son, door prize. The hostess served a delicious two-course luncheon. Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Noyes of Chinook, Mont., and Mrs. Edith Kunzelman of Port Orchard, Wash., son and daughter-in-law and daughter of the late Mrs. Hattie Noyes, spent Thursday and Friday visiting in the Big Hole. They were house guests of Mr. and Mrs. D. J. Stephens. While here they visited the Ajax ranch, where the setting of the book, “Story of the Ajax,’’ written by their father, A1 Noyes, was laid, also they visited with the John Wharton, Frank Pendleton and Clark Huntley families. Thurs day evening they were guests of honor at a dinner given by Mr. and Mrs. Argyl Stephens. Mr. and Mrs. Len Smith and daughter, Janie, went to Missoula Tuesday on business. J. M. Neidt returned to Grants- dale after spending a week with home folks. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Wenger and family spent the week end visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Light- foot at their ranch near Jackson. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Muller and family of Wimbleton, North Da kota, were over-night guests at the Claude Anderson home. Mrs. Muller is a niece of Mr. Ander son. Peter Rasmussen and Claude Anderson made a trip to Missoula Friday for some machinery pur chased for use on the county roads. Ed Glassey motored to Dillon Friday on business. His daugh ters, Mrs. Bill Brown and Mrs. Oliver Thompson, returned home with him. Saturday Mrs. Brown and Mrs. Thompson went on to Hamilton to visit relatives and to get Mrs. Glassey, who had been visiting there. They returned to Wisdom Sunday. Mrs. S. J. Johnson \entertained a number of friends at her beau tiful new ranch home Thursday afternoon and then in the evening took them to dinner at the Dia mond Bar Inn at Jackson, where places were laid for Mrs. Chris Rasmussen, Mrs. Ellen Kramer, Mrs. Alfred Peterson, Mrs. Hilma Peterson, and the hostess. One of the most delightful so cial affairs of the week was a dinner given by Mr. and Mrs. Argyl Stephens Sunday evening. After dinner pinochle gave di version with prizes going to Mr. and Mrs. Peter Rasmussen. Mrs. Rasmussen also received the trav eling prize. Places were laid for Messrs, and Mesdames Stewart Capehart, Tom Williams, Len Smith, Peter Rasmussen, Jake Neidt and the host and hostess. The Wisdom Civic .Center ex ecutive board held a meeting Fri day evening to discuss further plans for the building of the Civic center. A fund-raising commit tee composed of Mrs. Argyl Stephens, chairman; Harry Helm ing, vice chairman, and Julia Helming and Weldon Else was appointed. A number of Wisdom ladies at tended the charming tea given by Mrs. Fred Hirschey to honor Miss Shirley Stocker, bride-elect, and her mother, Mrs. Roy Stocker and grandmother, Mrs. Smith, all of Grant. Mrs. Lena Nelson of Dillon and Mrs. Alex Christie of Horse Prairie presided at the beautifully appointed table. Ex quisite arrangements of wild flowers were used , in the dining roo mand in the living room. A quartette of ladies composed of Mrs. Clement Kalitowski, Mrs. Mel McDowell, Mrs. Alfred Peterson and Mrs. Hilma Peter- st\\~ \ 1 son, accompanied by Mrs. Clemow, sang a number propriate selections during t)je ^ afternoon. Miss Stocker w ill wed Dick Hirschy, son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Hirschey, this fall. /■> '. Members of the Big Hole par ish met last week at the Fishtrap schoolhouse to meet Rev. James Lyon, who at present is assistant pastor of the Presbyterian chttreh . of Hammond, Indiana. The Big Hole parish, which includes Mel rose, Divide, Wise River,- Fish- trap, Wisdom and Jackson, has been for some time without a res ident minister and' the members feel that a parish of this size should be able to support a per manent minuter if a parish house house conveniently located near the center of the district can be found. Rev. Lyons preached a candidacy sermon at Fishtrap on Sunday evening which was well attended. Mrs. J. E. Price of Helena was a Sunday visitor at the Don An son home. Ranger Richard Gallup is a pa tient in the Barrett hospital in Dillon. The American Legion spon sored boys baseball team played the second game of the season at Deer Lodge Sunday. The score was 28 to 5 in favor of Deeir Lodge. Those furnishing trans portation were Harold Nelson, Grover Helming, Jack Kennedy, Dell Lloyd, Taft Allen, Bruce Helming and Mrs. Fred Walchley.
