À \ CT\ Û l / l (S O Jaws of life Photo by C«1 Jacobsen Beaverhead Emergency Medical Services volunteers used their “jaws of life” to free Patricia Van Deren who was pinned in her car after an accident two m iles north of Dillon on old Highway 91. The Butte Highwav- Patrol investigated the single car accident which happened after Van Deren’s vehicle rolled. Van Deren, who was not wearing a seat belt, was thrown into the back seat and pinned when the car’s roof was crushed in. EMS crews used the jaws of life to remove the vehicle’s roof. She was taken to Barrett Memorial Hospital where she was treated. She was later transferred to Butte, S t James Community H ospital, where she remains in good condition. Dillon community calendar Wednesday, Sept. 22 St. James Episcopal Church will show a film on “Discipline in the Christian Classroom” at 7 p.m. in the Guild Hall. There will be a registration roundup meeting for 65 Boy and Cub Scouts at 7 p.m. in St. Rose Family Center. Saturday, Sept. 25 Cub Scout Pack 62 will have a fishing derby Saturday 12 noon to 6 p.m. Boys are asked to meet at the LDS Church at noon. A Methodist food sale will be at 1 p.m. at Roberts Foods. District court actions Rodney Peter Hi am, 35, pleaded innocent in Dillon District Court last week to charges of aggravated as sault. Hiam, who is free on a $3,000 bond, is' charged with striking ah eight-year- old boy with a belt about the head, torso, neck and right arm on a road near Wise River. The information said Hiam had taken his 5-year- old step daughter to visit the boy. The children, the information said, had dis appeared on a walk and after they returned the incident allegedly took place. Diane Dewitt Rolando, 29, and her husband Ber nard, 45, Melrose, changed their plea to guilty from innocent on a charge of pos session of dangerous drugs. Judge Frank E. Blair gave them each a deferred one year prison sentence because of their lack of previous criminal records. Mrs. Rolando, and her husband were arrested after Big Hole deputies Doug McCloskey and Faye Buna- gamer noticed alleged live marijuana plants growing in the window box of the couple’s home west of Melrose. In Civil action the case ot State Bank and Trust Co. against Bill Hoops was ordered dismissed upon the written announcement the action had been settled on the merits. The case had been scheduled to be tried Sept. 7. A pre-trial conference was held before the court in the action of State Bank and Trust Co. against Prestige Auto, R.L. and Larry Edgar involving an alleged debt action of about $41,000. A trial date was discussed and attorneys agreed to Judge Frank E. Blair’s suggestion an out side judge be appointed since Blair will retire the first Monday in January. Distribution of the estate of O. Baker was approved to Rosemary Lonsberry and Loraine Baker. Philip Klatt was held in contempt of court and sentenced to five days in the Beaverhead County jail for failure to pay child support. Hie court set aside a default in the case of Glenn L. Humphrey against Ben Pauley and Jenny Pauley and authorized the defen dants to file an appro priate pleading. Hie estate of Andrea Kiebler, deceased, was ap proved.
