T Frank Nichols, manager of the hew Union Steam Laundry and Towell Sap- ply Co., of Kalispell, was in town this week, and will be here ag^in to-day. This new laundry is the outgrowth ol the recent labor dispute at Kalispell, at which time the two laundries there re fased to adopt a anion scale of wages for their help. Aboat 1901 the Union there adopted a scale of wages for all classes of labor except laundry workers, and the scale has been maintained and is still in vogue. Coppa CogUaino, a 15 yea* old Italian water carrier, was killed at Camp No. 1, near Colombia Falls, Snnday last, by- being run over with a dump cart. Jones was a good fel low, but'happened to live in some dead town and would rather have it appear different, and he expects to come to Columbia Falla anyway as soon as he can make the necessary arrangements. H. H., Greer Suicides. H* Barry Greer’s body was found ii Fktbead river last Sunday, and his body was taken to Kalispell, where It was identified by J. P. Ham and J. H. Hawkins, his former associate of this place. Greer was left, ejen, alive near Wjp*. Nutter’s place' nee* > Colombia Felts, where he bad been assisting J H. Hawkins in doing some artistic paint ing. Greer wae a morphine fiend, and his mind was no doubt affected by the excessive use of the drug. Wbiie at Natter’s place some two weeks ago, he jtWped jnto a slough a couple ol times, aftiwoR,polled -.out and dissuaded from his purpose by his friend Hawkins. He afterward started for town, and was not seen again until his body was discovered in a bad state of decompoeitfon aloDg ttys river. I* was reported in the last Cplpmbian that he had turned up all right a t Somer s, but that was a mistake. He wa» a pieno player on* all round musician, and had been with Hawkins and Ham for some time, aud they made diligent inquiry for him, and thought they bad located him at Somers, but when the body was foond in the river they immediately went to Kalispell and bqth identified the remains which were bqried at the Demersville cemetery last Monday. It was a clear case of suicide, sad no inquest was held. Greer w quite well liked among his associates Columbia, Falls. He was one of the Oalithnmpian band that played here on the 4th of July. Bat little is known of him except that it ia nnd< rutood that be had relatives at Portland, Oregon- Distinguished Visitor. Hill, jr.., was a Columbia Falls this week, and looked over ty thoroughly.
