Leon McConkey, Sam Wilson and Prof. Webster went hunting Sunday and after walking about fifteen miles they returned, tired and hungry, about three o'clock, but we failed to see any chickens. James Stronach has nearly complet- ed his new frame barn. It is 30x70 feet and will be finished up in fine style. He will give a dance in the hay loft when it is finished. Ivan Jensen is contemplating.a trip to New Year in the near future. At present he is building a new barn for J. C. Morrison. J. P. Johnson, the Iowa cattle buy- er, will ship six carloads of cattle out of Spion Kop Wednesday, Nov. 1st. These are cattle that tie gathered up in the Kibbe) , district. Matt Cooper of ,Great Falls made a short call in Spion Rop on his way to the sapphire mines in which he is in- terested. A Great Northern bridge crew of 17 men in six outfit cars pulled into Spion Kop Tuesday evening to build sheep chutes and make preparations to put in a section house. The largest potato we have seen in a long time was brought in to your correspondent a few days ago by James Quirk. It measured 17 '.2 inches the long way and 13'2 inches around. It cut into eight pieces the size of our fist and filled a four -quart stew pan prett) well. - W. D. Irvine also brought in a tur- nip that weighed nine pounds and was larger around the waist than any of the family, but Mr. Irvine protests that this was not the largest he had, as some of his crop weighed 11 to 13 pounds. C. E. 1,illegard and family went to Hobson last week to attend the wed- ding of Mrs. Lillegard's sister, Nliss Mildred Lapham, to Mr. Amos Sack- ett. Mrs.,Sackett is well known and much beloved in this neighborhood, and we wish her much happiness. To Mr. Sackett we extend our best wishes and most hearty congratulations on having secured a grand good wife. We wish the young couple long life and much prosperity. A C. Frye returned Monday from a ma weeks' trip to Chicago. He heard constant inquiries everywhere about Spion Kop and its prospects. About every second person he met expressed his desire and intention of moving out here in the spring. Early risers and those arriving on the stub Wednesday' morning saw strange sights in Spion Kop. The hotel porch was decorated with a neat- ly set table, including linen and silver, and appropriate decorations evidently brought from the restaurant. One end was held down by the scales from the Cash Grocery. Slim, Jack and Joe worked hard in delivering horseless rigs on every one's front porch, but no harm was done, and the boys must have had an awfully good time to pay for their hard work. UPPER OTTER CREEK Roy James and Pete Bergeron were among those who represented Upper Otter at the Hallowe'en dance, given in Monarch, Saturday night. They report a large crowd and a very enjoy -- able evening. Some of Belt's young sportsmen pass- ed through here Friday enroute for the Barker mountains, where they content - plate bringing down some big game. Tillie Paulson spent Saturday and Sunday at the hospitable uome of NIL and Mrs. Louis Bergeron. The young folks of this neighborhood are all looking forward to the entertain- ment and dance, given by Miss Paulson and pupils. Nov. 25th. A large crowd will no doubt attend, as good music has been engaged for the occa- sion. Mrs. L. Bergeron was a passenger on Monday's train to Belt.
