Our town hat long enjoyed the dis- tinction of being one of the best mar- ket towns of its size in the state. You always get the top price for your pro- duce fl'om our enterprising business Emil Morkholm, the advertisement manager at the Coughlin Bros. & Co. Store, has done himself proud on their ad this week. The subject of their ad is in season and tells the tale right to the point. Read the story. If you have one of the new nickels you had better keep one as a souvenir as it is understood no more are to be issued. Slot machine manufacturers are finding fault with the nickel, claim- ing that it cannot be used with facility in their devices. However, it has been found that the new coin can be slipped into a saving deposit without incon- venience, and using it in that way is a very commendable alternative. The Great Northern gasoline hand car had a wreck last Wednesday just before noon. Foreman Ralley and crew of two men were going east at the speed of about twenty miles an hour and when nearing Main street crossing the car struck a dog, putting the canine out of commission and throwing the occupants of the car in the air and turning the car across the track and bending the journal of the forward wheels. The three men were thrown from the car and luckily escaped without injury. Our readers will pardon us if we let a brother editor give his opinions of a stingy man. We are glad there are none such in our tour', but all °dm towns have them. Our brother editor says that if there is any thing on earth that gives him a longing for eternal rest and deep, damp solitude it is a man who comes to a toss ii or country, builds up a big paying business, grows rich and then squats down on the gold like a hen on a door knob and is too stingy even to let the gravel grini ii his own gizzard. A real, genuine 18 - karat, stingy, selfish man can't be hon- est, and if he ever gets to heaven and has wings, he folds them up and walks for fear he will ruffle a plume or lose a tail J ather. The kind of men wl build up a town and county and enjcy life and make the best citizens, are the enterprising, energetic and liberal men, who believe in living and letting others livo: and who do not ‘‘ hen they get a • t I he :. , dcicss ot LI , • -Is like she itaa on a corset. wha causes such stops the circulation of ea.!le.
