Mumford of Ill- inois University is coming to Montana next January to give some lectures dur- i tg Farmers' Week at Bozeman, Jan- uary 21-29. Professor Mumford was president of the board of cattle judges at the Louis- iana Purchase Exposition at St. Louis, 1904, and has been a prominent short - him n breeder and exhibitor as well as oterotthe leading authorities on anim- al husbandry in the Icountry. He has Robbers Get Money in Geyser. Yeggmen Break into Saloon, Wreck the Safe and Destroy Valuable Papers. Make Their Escape and Leaves No Clue. Last Fri..ay night, or rather Saturday mottling the safe of Geerge Kneer was blown by unknown parties who gained for their 'abuts something like $265 in money and made their com- plete getaway without leaving any trace of who they were. Besides get- ting the money they took a larKe number of valuable papers, mortgages and notes and burned them. I he robbers gained entrance thru the front door and used charge on the safe which gave way exposing the valuable on the insiee. 1 he safe was a t :al wreck and no other damage wail done. Authorities from Great Falls us ere here on Saturday but the jab was so cow - plete that no clues were left and the probabilities are that they will never te found out. At Windham on Sat- urday n:ght two safes were crack d and the reward was something like $300. There was also some safe breaking at Stanford. where one was blown with hut little reward. A r - port says that a safe w:s cracked at ‘Vindom recently and several other ciicrmstances led the authorities to believe that an organized -gang exists in this section of the S1314.. built tip a strong live stock department in conjunction with Illinois l;roversity., His coming to Montana is very timely. Great interest is being mani- fested in live stock and diversified farming. A critical transition from gruzing to arable farming is in pro- gress. Much misdirected effort and expence are apt to occur in stocking up the small farms where men are less ,.expert that the old stockmen. Professor NI umfotd's analysis of the I live stock and meat situation in Amer- i I will attract great interest. He will demonstrate the judgmr , of animal tpes as well as discuss gene al stock topics. Patronize prof_lressive people if you wish to see a prosperous communits.
