Ismay, Montana/^Friday^Nov. 15, 1912. Numberu35 Is Bound Over. (. Miles City Star' (Saturday):— The preliminary hearing o f Cal Bartlett was held yesterday afternoon be fore Judge John Gibb. Bartlett was charged with the murder of Cale Parsons at Teedee on election day. Although he is charged with mur der, the bonds were fixed at $2000, as a lesser degree of that crime, or manslaughter, will probably be the offense of which he will be convict ed. Attorney Dim Campbell tried hard to have the charge against Bartlett dismissed altogether for the reason that no malice was shown and also tried to secure a re-4 duction in the bail to .$1000, but Judge Gibb ruled against him .on both points. At the/hearing yester day, Dr. Andrus, who performed the autopsy, told of the nature of the wound which Parsons received, and declared that death had been due to heart failure caused by the loss of blood, by reason of the shock and also the exposure. Fail- yure to receive proper medical aid for so long a time was said to have been largely responsible for the death. Will Build in The Spring. Judging from numerous reports eminating from 'M o tt, N, D., the N. P..R’y is making active prepar ations to.feegjn the work of extend ing its line from Mott to Terry or Miles City in the spring. A big surveying crew is now busy finish ing up the final survey between ;Mott and~Marmarth and the road will cross the little Missouri about three mile$. north of Marmarth. It .is-said that the right-of-way be tween the two places whs purchased •last fall. Just which one of the three surveys will be. followed west from Marmarth is not given out as yet but we hope and believe that they will follow the Milwaukee line through this section and give us any benefits that may be derived from having competitive passenger and freight service. Whether the result of the late election is pleasing or not to the N. P. ..railway officials we have not heard but trust that their building operations will not be interfered with if heading this way.
