The new - rules were issued in form td a proclamation for Montana. The proolamation provides that persons dealing in wheat flour and making sales thereof' MUST, WITH EACH SALE OF FLOUR, SELL AN EQUAL WEIGHT OF WHEAT FLOUR SUBSTITUTES. The new regulation places ittontana orithe \fifty-fifty\ basis; that is, on the basis that wla!'t flour nsust be sold only with an equal weight of wheat flour substitutes. The ONLY AUTHORIZED SUBSTITUTES for this \fifty- fifty\ basis on and after March 11, shall be: corn' meal, corn starch, corn flour, hominy, corn grits, barley flow., rice, rice flour, oatmeal, rolled oats, buckwheat flour, potato flour, sweet potato flour, soya bean flour and feterita flour and meal. Potatoes may be sold as a wheat flour substitute when they are sold in the propor- tion of FOUR POUNDS OF POTATOES TO ONE POUND OF WHEAT FLOUR. Bran and shorts must not be sold as wheat flour substitutes after March 11,1918. Other states of the nation go upon the same \fifty-fifty\ basis. The officifil food program for Montana on and after March 11, is authorized to be as follows: Monday, all meals WHEATLESS ;, Tuesday, all / meals MEATLESS; Wecines.:lay, all meals WHEAT - LESS; noon meal of every day to be WHEATLESS. There will be no more porkless Saturdays for the present. Mutton and fish may be eaten on meatless days. Poultry als.o may be eaten on meatless days under restriction of the poultry order issued recently. BEEF AND PORK PRODUCTS, either fresh or i:reserved, must not be eaten on meatless day. , \The need for MORE INTENSE WHEAT SAVI:G in Mon- tana and other states of the union is paramount,\ says Adminis- trator Atkinson. \The armies in France are supposed to have 90 days' supplies, of food on hand at all times against an emergency. Our army and the armies of the allies in Europe now HAVE LESS THAN ONE WEEK'S SUPPLY OF WHEAT FLOUR AHEAD, If Montana people who have sons and brothers at the front will think over this fact for a moment, it seems that the rest rise from our state to the call for greater wheat saving WILL BE IMMEDIATE AND WHOLEHEARTED.\ T.IIE SAVING OF A GREATER AMOUNT OF 1•7REAT AT HOME AS A MILITARY NECESS;TY.
